Vice President Mike Pence was set to travel overseas for the first time during the Covid pandemic just hours after presiding over the congressional session where should be declared the winner in the presidential election. Pence was planned to depart on Jan. 6 for a trip that will include stops in Bahrain, Israel, and Poland, according to a government document obtained by NBC News, and remain abroad through Jan. 11.
Well, that trip is canceled.
A planned visit to Israel by US Vice President Mike Pence was called off less than two weeks before he was due to arrive, the US Embassy confirmed Wednesday.
No reason was given for the cancellation, which was first reported by the Ynet news site.
This again made a huge debate on the social networks on whether VP Pence will reject the fraudulent electoral votes and decide the Presidential race.
Or the real question can he, and will he do that? Conservatives alleged that The particular statute granting this authority is U.S.C. 12.
U.S. legal code requires the vice president to accept or reject election results on the third Wednesday of December or the so-called Pence Card was raised as false by fact-checker Snopes. Their decision was that A provision in the U.S. legal code says that if a state fails to deliver a certification of vote to the vice president or the archivist of the United States by the fourth Wednesday of December, that person shall request that the state’s secretary of state provide these certifications in an expeditious manner. This provision does not, however, grant the vice president the power to reject votes that were certified by the states.
But on the other hand American patriots still believe that Pence can decide the race and President Trump can get another four years.
National File had the details of the story here:
Ivan Raiklin says Vice President Pence can request states send Electoral College slates that actually reflect the will of the people
Citing the United States Constitution and U.S. Code, Constitutional Lawyer Ivan Raiklin says it is Vice President Mike Pence’s duty to instruct states to expeditiously send their Electoral College Certificates immediately if they have not been received. U.S.C. 12 explains that “When no certificate of vote and list mentioned in sections 9 and 11 of this title from any State shall have been received by the President of the Senate or by the Archivist of the United States by the fourth Wednesday in December, after the meeting of the electors shall have been held, the President of the Senate … shall request, by the most expeditious method available, the secretary of state of the State to send up the certificate…”
Beyond the allegations and evidence of widespread fraud presented by both President Donald Trump’s legal team and independent lawyers and witnesses across the United States, several states have now sent competing slates of delegates to Washington, D.C.
Additionally, Republicans in Pennsylvania and Arizona have asked the U.S. Congress not to accept the votes assigned by the state’s Secretary of State, suggesting they represent fraudulent election results.
Should Pence take this action, he is then instructed by the law to request these states immediately send accurate Electoral College Certificates before January 6.
Just The News also added this:
Two law professors are arguing the U.S. Constitution’s 12th Amendment could empower Vice President Mike Pence to reject contested electors and pave the way for the U.S. House to re-elect President Trump under what’s known as a contingent election.
In an October 19 essay at “The American Mind,” John Yoo, a law professor at the University of California-Berkeley, and Robert J. Delahunty, a law professor at St. Thomas University, argue that Pence, as presiding officer of the joint congressional session on electors, can refuse to “count” the electoral votes from disputed states.
However, this legal analysis empowering the Vice President faces headwinds as states continue to certify results for Joe Biden over President Trump.
Even do Mike Pence publicly supported President Trump legal efforts to prove voter fraud, he was sued by Rep. Gohmert who argued that Mike Pence should pick competing slates from the swing states Arizona, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Michigann, Wisconsin due to the mass amount of fraud in the 2020 stolen election.
The Senate and House meet jointly on Jan. 6 to open and count certificates of electoral votes. The vice president has the constitutional role of presiding over the Senate, which has traditionally included overseeing the formal acceptance of the Electoral College vote.
There are two sides to the story and will Mike Pence decide the Presidential race?
We gonna have to wait for a week and find out.
So far the elections officials, the state legislators, and the courts have all betrayed USA and honest fair elections.
A political martyr? Take a big one for the team? I don’t think so. It will have to be spread out over the state legislators as well as a few judges like the one in wisconsin.
If he saves the country from Kamala he can go there on Jan. 21 and stay. safety first. Someone else can be the VP. My preference would have been the late Walter Williams reading his declaration forgiving the white race.
That Pence would even remotely consider being anywhere but in the Senate or available in DC during this period is absurd and irresponsible.
Now we know where his head and heart are.
There are three kinds of people in my life: Friends, acquaintances and enemies. One can go up in rank and two can go down. Friends are few.
Hes establishment. Hes already got his dagger ready for our collective backs.
I think it was stupid for him to book a trip on an important day in the Senate. I don’t see Pence not accepting the votes. It would take a huge amount of courageous fortitude to not accept them. He has been quiet and steady person in the background for the President. He’s kept himself safe.
I so agree. I posted the same opinion here.
I bet the Office of the President cancelled his trip.
Pence was looking to get out of the Country after he betrays
Trump. So he would not take the massive backlash against him.
If he betrays Trump, that massive rally in DC on Jan 6 should
move to the VP’s house and protest Pence’s betrayal.
I think the VP’s house is on Naval Grounds, but thousands should
rush the gates and barriers.
FROM THE AMERICAN THINKER:
If Mike Pence wants to do the right thing, he needs only to interpret “votes” as votes from states NOT IN DISPUTE, and count them accordingly.
He could declare, “I will not count the Biden electors, or the competing slates of Trump electors, in disputed states where there is overwhelming credible evidence of systemic fraud.” Thus would he restore the election win to President Trump, from whom it was audaciously stolen.
What would Pence have to lose? A commenter at Legal Insurrection observed:
“Pence should refuse to count votes from the contested states, and dare someone to sue him in court. Then the SCOTUS can simply docket that for January 21, 2021.
If the SCOTUS can’t stop states from stealing elections, they damn well don’t have the power to stop Pence from counting the votes any way he wants to.”
One caveat: This has been a season in which everyone seems to be letting us down. Why expect Pence to be any different? The Washington Post reported, “Pence is hoping for a low-key Jan. 6 and is not planning any unnecessary drama, aides said, intending to stick to his perfunctory role. He is eyeing a trip overseas soon after.”
But the Post report might be inaccurate, or this could be Trump disinformation intended to cause the opposition to let down their guard.
As for the mention of no “unnecessary drama” in Pence’s plans, that doesn’t rule out necessary drama. The Democratic election theft was bold and shocking. It calls for a bold, shocking correction.
Drama is unavoidable, with the nation so bitterly divided. Half of the country, including 30 percent of Democrats, believe the election was stolen. Media gaslighting has convinced the other half, including Sen. McConnell and some other leading Republicans, that Biden was really elected.
The vice president faces a “difficult” decision that’s not really difficult: Will he decline to certify slates of electors produced by what the whole world knows was systemic cheating? Will he refuse to legitimize a treasonous coup, and thus single-handedly save the republic and change the course of history
Are some of you actually thinking that Pence would betray Trump?
He should have known how important it was for him to be here on that date.
Security for the VP is likely heightened. Because he has been silent, he is a threat. Regardless of his actions, he is at risk. It could be that he is more at risk now, than after his count of the electors. He likely needs to stay secure.
The vice president faces a “difficult” decision that’s not really difficult.
**************
People who want high profile and important jobs, whatever they may be, are expected to make difficult decisions. It goes with the territory.
This is an easy decision. Its simply a matter of refusing to condone fraud and doing the right thing for the country.
What better way to put an end to fraud than refusing to accept it? If fraud is allowed to determine the outcome of our elections we are not a republic anymore.
Pence is only being expected to do his job IMO.
Yes
And if the states respond, "We did. We held an election. Biden won. The people have spoken. The votes are given to him," then what? No court has ruled the election results to be invalid. Pence alone does not have the authority to say that election results are invalid. He needs either a court order or a different slate of electors chosen by the state's legislature. Right now it doesn't look like he's going to have either one.
