My master’s thesis was 2x in length, not including appendixes—copies of questionnaires and such— and had 3x the subjects. The first chapter, 40 pages, was all theoretical grounding for the study. The final chapter was also theory—how my study fit within in it.

That kind of stupidity explains the insistence on "Dr." Biden.

An older Boston attorney I knew - Boston Latin, Harvard undergrad, Harvard J.D. - asserted that Harvard's PhD in Education was "trash." (He actually said a lot more and a lot worse than that, but I'll refrain).

I'm just guessing that U. Delaware PhD Ed. hovers in that same territory, probably even worse.

Earning a Ph.D. in Medicinal Chemistry was difficult. Living up to the title was even more difficult. The most important thing I learned was the ability to discern bad science from good science and to know my limitations. If Jill Biden wishes to use the prefix Dr. that’s her business, but she will be judged accordingly.

My Masters thesis was throughly reviewed by my committee and I had to defend my thesis in oral presentation before my committee and complete a comprehensive written exam. My wife’s PhD thesis was several hundred pages and she spent most of a year working with her committee and undergoing rewrites too numerous to mention. The literature search alone was many times the length of Jill Biden’s puff piece.

The awarding of a “doctoral” degree for this drivel is an indictment of her committee and the university that granted this degree.
