My mother was telling me tonight that my cousin Tina had covid. I asked her if the rest of her family got it? Turns out my cousin Tina got it, her daughter who was in high school got it, her son who is in his early twenties did not get it, her husband who is the same age and works in a hospital did not get it.
Here's the kicker, her brother who lives with them is 49 years old and had a heart transplant last year got it and recovered in a week. The rest who got it pretty much recovered in a week also.
The story makes me wonder about governors and public health officials complaining about people getting together over the holidays and look what happened in my cousin's household. I think these people and fauci are full of crap about the spread of this virus.
Four more deaths in my community today.
I’m sorry to hear that
We just got news today of two COVID deaths in our immediate circle. Both were normal, otherwise healthy middle-aged people.
IMHO, we really need to quit fighting reality. COVID is real, and it IS killing people. It’s also leaving a lot of people with “long-haul” serious, lingering health problems. Guy in my sub has been dealing with lingering health issues since Mar/April and can’t shake them. Still goes to the hospital regularly for treatments.
I realize this is also being used politically, but that’s more “never let a crisis go to waste” than it is indicative of COVID not being extremely serious. Let’s quit downplaying it and try to eradicate it by doing the few things we CAN do. And that all starts with acknowledging that it’s real, and it’s in many cases quite serious.
Well, I think those people are full of crap and it has nothing to do with the virus...
Two inherent truths: People in government lying and the sun rising in the east.
JoMa
Pretty much everyone I know who’s gotten it, including a couple seniors recovered fine and quickly.
I know one guy who died. He was very old and not in good shape.
The average age of death is higher than the average lifespan. Of course there will be outliers.
I can’t figure out how I haven’t gotten it. I meet and shake hands with new people nearly every day.
How many are dying because they can’t get Hydroxychloroquine or ivermectin? My brother prescribes it at his family practice - but he said most doctors will not.
I know five people who have died during the epidemic. None died of Covid. These were all people past fifty who had long-standing health issues.
Death is horrible. But it’s our fate. Fortunately, Covid is only affecting 80+ year olds. Shall we continue destroying our children’s future for this?
Two people at work have it for the second time.
My area is a hot spot for COVID and I think it has to do with the ventilation system not working at all.
It’s a real nightmare. A number of people at work have had it and recovered though. One man said the week long fevers and having no strength was the worst part. Took him about three weeks to recover in full.
A recent study strongly implicates genetics as an important factor partially determining who gets a severe illness and who doesn’t.
“Guy in my sub”
What is ‘sub”? Literally submarine (???) Some other local lingo?
And my wife’s mother, brother, and uncle, who all lived in the same household, got it. Each was very sick for a month and the uncle died.
Like your story, these are isolated cases. You can’t draw global inferences from them. You have to use larger data sets for that.
Anyone you know. How old? Preexisting conditions? Die “from” Covid or die “with” Covid? Did they go into the hospital FOR Covid, or did they go in for some other known condition and while in hospital learned they were also Covid positive??
subdivision? (Neighborhood)
COVID is a virus. It can cause severe illness. So can influenza and the common cold
Nothing that is being done in terms of lock downs is helpful
Wash your hands. Stay home if you don’t feel well. Don’t spit on the sidewalk
Yes it is quite serious and sympathy is due anyone who gets and serious or worse illness from it.
HOWEVER, acknowledging that MOST infections do not become an illness, and most of those that become ill do not become seriously ill, and most of those who become seriously ill not die - leaving deaths a minority of those infected - DOES NOT MINIMIZE ANYONE’S DEATH NOR DOES DENY ANY SYMPATHY FOR THEM.
The full reality is that MOST people will get through this period with no serious Covid illness, thank G-d.
Sitting next to my COVID positive wife as I type. No fever, tired, sniffles and that’s it. Used to call this a cold.
