Another good book is Battle of Wits by Stephen Budiansky. It goes into the stories of the breaking of the Enigma, and also of the Japanese diplomatic and naval codes.

I first learned of Enigma when I read Winterbotham’s book The Ultra Secret. The information had only recently been declassified.

It was a good read.
