“The point of tyranny is not to genuinely convince you it’s true, it’s to ram the lie down your throat and make you live with it.” - Mark Steyn, in for Rush yesterday
How many times over the past week, month…decade have you asked yourself “how on earth did we get here?” Perhaps this little story from 2018 will help explain:
A new poll shows that only a little over a third of Americans would pass a basic multiple choice [ed. they can’t even guess at the right answer] U.S. citizenship test, modeled after the one taken by immigrants in the process of naturalization.
The survey, released Oct. 3 by the Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation with the research firm Lincoln Park Strategies, sampled 1,000 American adults. It showed that only 36 percent actually passed the test.
The survey asks about everything from important dates to historical figures and current events. Only 13 percent knew when the U.S. Constitution was written — Sept. 17, 1787 — and 24 percent of respondents knew what Benjamin Franklin was known for (hint: it wasn’t inventing the light bulb).
More than half (60 percent) of those surveyed did not know which countries the U.S. fought against in World War II. Fifty-seven percent didn’t know how many justices are on the Supreme Court, despite recent media coverage. (Nine, including newly confirmed Brett Kavanaugh.)
“With voters heading to the polls next month, an informed and engaged citizenry is essential,” said Arthur Levine, president of the Woodrow Wilson Foundation, in a news release.
Although an informed and engaged citizenry is apparently not half as essential as Dominion voting machines that run the ballots through foreign servers using algorithms and trucks arriving in the middle of the night with freshly minted ballots.
“Unfortunately, this study found the average American to be woefully uninformed regarding America’s history and incapable of passing the U.S. Citizenship Test.”
For the former I blame the media
Big Media: painting your world view since 1962
while the later falls firmly in the lap of “Educators” by which I mean the likes of Bill Ayers and company
who took it upon themselves to re-write history in their own ideological image in order to brainwash subsequent generations of Americans into believing that there isn’t now and never has been anything even close to American exceptionalism.
Because they said so.
Time to slay this dragon.

I blame the media and education.
“how on earth did we get here?”

One reason was Rush jumping on the “birther” Alinsky bandwagon.
Obama is not a natural born citizen.
Re: The USA Citizenship Test
91% of immigrants pass the test on their first try.
Anybody wondering how that happens?
Because they give you all the questions and all the answers BEFORE you take the test!
From memory...
There are five tests with 50 questions on each test.
They give you all 250 questions and all 250 answers before you take one 50 question test.
I think 70% is a passing grade, so you can miss 15 out of 50 questions and still pass.
The media is dead. 75 million....right of center voters...... now get their info “online” now.
We now have our chance to be the anarchists. Time to read up on Ayers.
It is no longer the media. Call it what it is.....propaganda.
These boards have been buzzing since election night about the collapse of Fox News’ ratings.
Fox News’ failure is well deserved.
But how are the other, traditionally left-wing, outlets doing?
Have their ratings dropped as well, in proportion to the rise of NewsMax / OANN, et al?
I’m certain that Freepers have been getting the bulk of their news from conservative websites (mainly... Free Republic) since the late ‘90’s. But are Mr. & Mrs. America searching the interwebs for truth?
It’s unlikely that any polling organization has done a survey of these questions, other than the “trust factor,” which paints journalists as less trustworthy than used car salesmen.
I’d like to know where these 75-million people are getting their news these days.
Or have they just stopped watching?
I blame the media and education.
I blame ourselves for not training up our children in the ways of the Lord.
“Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”.....John Adams
