Because God-breathed, Holy Spirit inspired scripture commands us to accept other apostolic teaching even if not written down. Thanks for asking.
Postscript: “Mother of Jesus” conveys no important theological information. It says nothing important about Jesus. “Mother of God” is about Jesus, not Mary.
Chapter and verses please.
Mother of Jesus was meant to identify Mary, not convey important theological truth about who Jesus was.
For that we have the rest of the body of Scripture, which is also apparently not good enough for Catholics either or they wouldn’t take it upon themselves to think they can improve on the work of God Himself.
2 Thessalonians 2:15. Whether by word of mouth or letter.
Hope this helps.
If you need more, I’ve got them.
If you don’t follow the oral tradition entrusted to the Apostles — you ain’t scriptural.
2 Thess 3:6. "withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly and not after the tradition which he received of us." A tradition which was delivered by Paul, in other words. In person. Not written.
1 Cor 15:2f. "Also ye are saved if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you."
1 Thess 2:13. "Ye received the word of God which ye heard of us."
Galatians 1:9. "But even if we or an angel from heaven preach any other gospel to you other than what we have preached to you, let him be damned."
23 John 1:12. Hving many things to write to you, I did not wish to do so with paper and ink, but I hope to come to you and speak face to face."
Luke 10:16. "He who hears you hears me, and he who rejects you rejects me."
Those are the main ones. Do you really need more? Now is the time for you to face the question: do you worship Jesus or a book?
You cannot be a bible-believing Christian if you reject the biblical commands to obey unwritten apostolic teaching.
I’m not saying that.
I’m saying Mary was born as a mortal human and was, like all mortal humans, of a sinful nature. If God required her to be sin-free, He could have done it at any time - and He also could have had Jesus born of a flawed mortal w/o being flawed/sinful Himself.
I also believe that God values marriage enough that he didn’t cuckold Joseph and never allow him to “consummate” the marriage after Jesus was born, while many who pray to Mary (and other flawed mortals even though Jesus came to set up a personal relationship and give us a direct line to God the Father) think it blasphemous that she “suffered” wifely duties under a sweating Joseph.
