Can we ban this archaic phrase from FR? It’s not intuitive to anything and wholly contrived; it seems that EVERYONE feels the need to use this lamely trendy word.

....while I sorta / kinda agreee with you, this is perhaps the best article that describes “gaslighting” that I have read....unfortunately, it is now in wide use and probably will be until folks get tired of using it (have you heard “at the end of the day....” used recently...? I haven’t...)
To: TokarevM57
Ha ha ha ha! You beat me to it! I was gonna say “it’s the new ‘at the end of the day’”. Everyone now will be compelled to use it as to be part of the hip zeitgeist. (Oh dear Lord, did I just say “zeitgeist”?? Kill me now.)

It’s a useful word, and pretty much the opposite of archaic.

I’m catching on that David gets all his material from FR.
Gaslighting has been a running theme here for weeks!

Back then, people had more experience with gas lighting. Now it is just an archaic technology. I f you really want it, there is a district in San Diego.

Everyone should know this by heart! The Bible calls this time period before Jesus comes the “Great Delusion”...
2 Thessalonians 2: 11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: 12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

How about we ban gaslighting instead of ignoring it. Confronting it will work much better than willful ignorance.

Complaining about something without providing an alternative is just whiny bitching.
Please provide an alternative.
Thank you.

“95% of the masses don’t even know that they are being gaslighted”
Oh BULL SHEVIC, of course they know! They just don’t care because the programming is good. As long as the media sings sweet songs in their ear they’re happy.

Add this to the many, many logical fallacies that the Left uses.
This one is hard to spot, because it’s cloaked as an overall strategy behind pure lies and propaganda.
To: LittleBillyInfidel
The word “gaslighting” can be replaced by what the enemydia are actually doing - spreading lying propaganda.
To: EyesOfTX
He explains it very well. The word may be tiresome, but the psychological manipulation is being used quite well on the unwoke masses.

To: EyesOfTX
For a “trendy” word gaslighting has been around a hell of a long time. I’m 62 and I’ve been seeing it all my life. It doesn’t compare to ‘at the end of the day’ since the latter is just temporizing and can be dropped in almost anywhere while the former is laser specific in the con text that it is being used. Frankly I’d nominate “stay safe” for a ban.
