Can we ban this archaic phrase from FR? It’s not intuitive to anything and wholly contrived; it seems that EVERYONE feels the need to use this lamely trendy word.

....while I sorta / kinda agreee with you, this is perhaps the best article that describes “gaslighting” that I have read....unfortunately, it is now in wide use and probably will be until folks get tired of using it (have you heard “at the end of the day....” used recently...? I haven’t...)

It’s a useful word, and pretty much the opposite of archaic.

Back then, people had more experience with gas lighting. Now it is just an archaic technology. I f you really want it, there is a district in San Diego.

How about we ban gaslighting instead of ignoring it. Confronting it will work much better than willful ignorance.

Add this to the many, many logical fallacies that the Left uses.

This one is hard to spot, because it’s cloaked as an overall strategy behind pure lies and propaganda.

The word “gaslighting” can be replaced by what the enemydia are actually doing - spreading lying propaganda.

You’re right. Let’s start calling it “LED Lighting” instead.

“Can we ban this archaic phrase(sic) from FR?”

No. Why should I give it up the term “gaslighting”?

It is a very useful word - a nice quick way of expressing an all-to-common phenomenon that would otherwise take many words to explain.

David’s synopsis is a very timely reminder - there is so much gaslighting going on right now that my wife and I find ourselves acknowledging it a half dozen times a day.

Most conservatives have known about Leftist gaslighting our whole lives - yet we still need to reassure ourselves we are not crazy - it’s not a bad thing.

Have you ever personally been gaslit, or the subject of a gaslighting attempt?

How about this?

Perception Manipulation is the ability to manipulate one's very perception, allowing them to see, hear or even feel objects that aren't present or may not even exist. Likewise, the ability can be used to amplify one's own perception to greater levels. In many ways, the ability is analogous to Mind Manipulation and both powers can overlap ...

Gas lighting is the PERFECT term. To be the victim of gas lighting you have to be pretty stupid.
