Matt Drudge highlighted a passage from Trump’s book in which the future president mused about the American people not reelecting Jimmy Cater after realizing. he couldn’t fulfill his promises.
Matt Drudge added fuel to the fire in his ongoing feud with President Donald Trump on Friday by prominently featuring an excerpt from Trump’s “The Art of the Deal” where he mused on why Jimmy Carter did not win reelection: “You can’t con people, at least not for long.”
The Drudge Report, a conservative news aggregator run by Matt Drudge, has faced mounting criticism from Republicans — including President Trump — for seemingly tilting away from cheering Trump on. When the excerpt appeared atop the site, the top story declared that Biden was “on the brink of victory.”

I have always wondered whether Drudge was an intelligence community asset. He appeared out of nowhere, gaining nationwide exposure for his blog almost overnight. How does that happen? And he somehow found out about Lewinsky servicing Clinton - precisely the kind of info that CIA or NSA or FBI operatives would know about by tapping presidential phone lines. And for years, he promoted the military industrial complex’s narratives in support of our foreign endless wars
But now - when a GOP president comes along who is challenging the establishment including the intelligence community - Drudge suddenly turns his guns on that GOP president. At the same time that intelligence community big shots like Brennan Clapper and Comey go to war against Trump
I have no way of knowing, but I do wonder what what the real story - and real backing - behind Drudgereport is.
And can't think of anything the President conned anyone on. He's the most honest man in DC.
