Grocery store workers — particularly those who interact with customers — are at serious risk of infection by the coronavirus, according to a new study in the journal Occupational and Environmental Medicine.

These workers likely became a “significant transmission source” for the illness without even knowing it because most in the study were asymptomatic, CNN reported.

The study found that 20 percent of 104 grocery store workers tested at a Boston store in May had positive nasal swab results, according to the network....

How would that be distinguished from 20% of grocery workers had false positives on their COVID-19 tests?

Using the logic of the OJ Simpson jury,
. . .

‘All that proves is that the workers have noses.’

Great, now they will want to shutdown the grocery stores.

I beg to differ. It's my belief that those who are asymptomatic are NOT good transmitters of the VID.

“ at a Boston store in May“

May was a long time ago.
But yes grocery workers could have high infection rates, hopefully most are immune by now.

I thought of that too.

If I were a member of a local NextDoor site, I would, just for sh*ts and giggles, post this and argue very vehemently that we should shut down grocery stores just as a way of punking people and seeing who I could flush out as being really wacked.

I’d post similar articles for the same reason.

But I would also email the reasonable people secretly and let them in on the joke.

But that’s kind of the point left unmade.

What would the numbers be if they were tested now?

How many would have antibodies?

How did the people they live with fare?

Knew that there was a reason grocery store cases weren’t making the news the way they did at the start of the summer.

Keep shopping and never mind the Covid.

Exactly.
I’m very careful in a store.
I wear disposable gloves, as I assume I will touch something that has been touched by a positive person
Hopefully the virus doesn’t survive too long on what I bring home.

How can it be *serious risk of infection*when they don’t even show symptoms?

IOW, it goes to show that this virus is not as bad as originally predicted.

If 20% of workers had the Vid in May than it’s most likely 60% now.

Good news!

Then we’ve reached herd immunity, now.

And thus no reason to close polling places.

Good thing they all wore masks, otherwise the entire country would have it by now.

Millions dead.

Well they are less of an infection threat now! Would someone explain Virology 101 to Fauci? He obviously doesn’t have a clue what happens when people gain antibodies.

“No Lockdown” Sweden < one death per WEEK. And dumbass Fauci has NO curiousity as to WHY.

Of course NO AMERICAN JOURNALISTS have enough awareness to ASK.

I am going to call BS on them being sources of significant transmission. Show me the cases traced to interacting with the checkout clerk. The asymptomatic transmission is a boogeyman. You would have to have close prolonged contact with somebody incubating the virus (presymptomatic) to be exposed to enough viral particles to be infected.

A short encounter with the grocery clerk who is not coughing, sneezing in your direction is not a likely source of getting the virus. Oh and I’ve yet to see one not wearing the facial amulet

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Virus only gets on a surface if an infected party coughs or sneezes on it. Not merely by touching it.

And you can touch your nose, mouth, or eyes quite easily without realizing it with gloves on as well as without.
