There was a tidbit just a month or so ago that got memory holed. Kamala may be involved in the various financial schemes of the Bidens. That might also be a reason she was chosen.
If so, it would also provide the fuel for quite a conspiracy theory:
The anti-MAGA's could take out both of them and install more "efficient" actors. All they have to do is win the Oval Office, one way or the other.
Biden and Harris would resign in comfortable disgrace. If an impeachment was necessary any R House and Senate would be hard pressed to withhold support.
There is more than enough money available to fund such a scheme
