I’m actually with your, dandiegirl, about how Sen Cruz presents himself.
He strikes me as a Professor who expects his students to do the work and turn in quality work. He doesn’t speak down to his students; he just speaks at the level at his students should be able to understand material presented to him.
I think that’s why many of us who like Sen Cruz were so pissed off at him after he got elected as Senator from Texas. I don’t think he truly understood the thinking pattern of Pres Trump, back when he was Candidate Trump.
He’s making up for that mistake. I would like to see him on the SCOTUS, some day.

I think most Cruz fans believed he would sleep walk to victory over such a flake as Beto, so probably didn’t vote.
That would account for the closeness of the vote totals.
Hopefully, that was a wake up call for GOP voters.

Many Red voters stayed home on purpose in 2018.
Cruz pissed off a lot of Trump voters and $80 Million of California/NYC democrat money was dumped into Texas targeting Him & swamp Republicans in Blue areas. So it was way closer than it should have been.
I live in Red area, but We lost a state Senator to a complete Karen and a couple more 85% straight Pelosi voters made it too congress that should be coming back home in January.
The news media had a blackout on what complete flake Beto was. Like Biden, they knew it at the time, too.

Republicans are leading in early voting, and republicans are expected to lead by a larger margin on Election Day. It’s a good thing democrats have overnight voting from the cemeteries, or they would not stand a chance.
