I was working at Google when Obama won in 2008, and there were celebrations going on and people were just assuming I wanted to celebrate too and were surprised when I did not join in the festivities. The environment was such that I did not talk politics much, but I did voice my opinion sometimes when people asked, so a few knew the deep dark secret I was conservative leaning.

But the place had been getting more obnoxious politically--it used to be a place where those of us on the right were just those with a minority opinion. Then over time it morphed into not quite being ok to not got along with the Left. I have not been there since 2009...but from what I can tell it got worse after I left.
