The way I understand it, the vote is on the total of the senate. 100 members. If only 75 show up to vote, they still need a majority of 60 to confirm.
Imay be wrong...
And hes fighting to keep his seat I understand. Why didnt he show a little gumption and refuse to hold hearings, or limit hearings to a half day of questions, one question each per committee member then hold the vote in the afternoon? People are not anxious to support him, even though we cant afford to lose the seat. Hed have had donations pouring in had he done that.
Yup just an up or down vote scvrew the demonrats.
She is beating them like rented mules. She is explaining her definition of conservative feminism that you never hear. She is worth her weight in gold.
Yes, you are wrong. They only need 51 votes to confirm, and if the senate is actually split 50/50, VP Pence will cast the deciding vote.
True, but dont worry - nobody is watching... and even with selective editing it would be impossible to find a sound bite that didnt show either a nasty, unattractive and dishonest Democrat, or a decent, articulate and honest Republican.
And skipping the hearings could backfire on the Republicans - the Democrats and fake news would surely spin it as just another heavy-handed, authoritarian move by Republicans to disenfranchise the people.
Dont make waves by cancelling the hearings, just go through the motions and make it look like other confirmation hearings.
ok thanks, I thought it was 60.
