The risk assessment needs to be done. The implied risk is that if you bypass Senate procedure and go to an up/down floor vote, you will lose a few votes due to short-circuiting the process. This needs to be examined and not just done willy-nilly.

It sounds radical, but the way the Dims are using the hearings it is really a sane response to the radical shenanigans of the Dims.

It’s clear they do not want “hearings”, they do not want a respectful and judicious look at the nominee. All they want is Joe-Biden proxy time in front of the news cameras.

Republicans will complete the full hearing and vote Judge Barrett to the Supreme Court. Not holding a complete hearing would jeopardize votes in the upcoming presidential election. Allowing the democrats to further embarrass themselves is an extra benefit...and will backfire on them in the election.
