If I’m being photographed, I want royalty payments. Why not? I’m a wild and crazy guy and should be paid for it.

Maybe the next moon they see won’t be in the sky.

Check out the ceiling of your local grocery store.

Or any other store for that matter.

They are all under those little gray bubbles lining the ceilings.

Seems a little light actually. I guess if you are living in a small town that might be accurate. But I know that I pass about 30 cameras walking from the parking lot to the main building. That’s 300 times a week just walking in and out of a workplace.

> “There’s strong evidence that many of the systems in deployment are reflecting and amplifying existing forms of inequality,”

WTH does that really mean?

“Doorbell cameras. Like the ones surveilling the entire neighborhood without their consent.”

Oh please. Being filmed in a public space where there is no expectation of privacy. /eyeroll.

While i generally agree with the article, twit comments like this just ruin it.

It means “technology is racist,” therefore reparations.

The REAL reason for 5G.
More surveillance

Pretty much.

Is there anything more racist than people who think certain people can’t make it without White Liberals doing for them?

The software didn’t detect her face until she put on a white mask, she said, “because the people who coded the algorithm hadn’t taught it to identify a broad range of skin tones and facial structures.” The software returned worse results for women and darker-skinned persons.

How do you teach an algorithm to not recognize black people? This chick is an idiot and apparently doesn't know how facial identification works.

Computers are math based, they have to be. They take an image of a face, and convert it to vectors/pixels, which are then stuck into formulas to compare, mostly looking at differences in l,ight intensity from the image. Big differences in shading help identify a face: dark eyes, bright cheeks, dark mouth line. The problem with black people is that they don't have clearly discernible eyes/nose/mouth when you start doing this process. Slowly blur a bunch of different faces - the lighter the skin, the longer you'll still be able to make out a face as it gets blurrier and blurrier. This link explains some of the math. It help a lot if you're familiar with linear algebra. https://jeremykun.com/2011/07/27/eigenfaces/
