Uuummm that governor was Mark Sanford, he was a Republican

And ran for U.S. Representative in South Carolina (his old seat before becoming Governor) and served from 2013-2019.

Also announced he was a candidate for the Republican Presidential nomination in 2020 but that didn’t turn out well for him.
