...Georgia State said the four positive tests were the first the school had experience in three weeks across the school’s athletic program. Out of caution, they called off the game, but then the news came in. The tests were wrong.
“Friday afternoon, as we were loading the buses to play a football game at Charlotte, we were informed that four individuals out of 135 had tested positive for coronavirus from our third test in four days as part of our protocol to play. Through contract tracing, we identified 17 others, including one coach, who would require quarantining,” GSU athletic Charlie Cobb said in a statement. “These were our first positive test results in three weeks among our athletics programs, which since April have experienced a positivity rate of 1.7 percent. Out of an abundance of caution for the rest of our team and Charlotte, we could not in good conscience put our team on the bus and play a game.
“As part of our protocols, we tested the individuals again Friday afternoon and were informed by our lab Friday night that none tested positive. They also retested the swabs from Thursday and all tested negative as well. It was at this point that the lab director informed our medical staff that a human error Friday morning caused the error in test results...

The tests are always wrong
Too bad there is not some way for the student-athletes to sue the testing facility or test manufacturer. What if if a guy on one of the teams would have been a leading contender for a Heismann if not for this one game being cancelled and thus not allowing him a chance to make a play that would have put him in the running?
One of the teams might have gotten into a superior bowl game if not for this cancellation.
I hope they triggered the necessary contact tracing. They need to check every family member of all those on the bus and every contact they had the past ten days. Just to be safe, then need to then check every contact all those people had, as well. You cannot be too safe in matters like this.
Makes you wonder just how much other “human error” is out there, fouling up school events, church gatherings, weddings, funerals, family picnics, etc.
Kind of seems like the winds are changing. (I know I’ve said it in previous posts, but it bears repeating.)
What if you are the governor of a state and Trump is coming to town.
You test positive in the morning and so sad, you can’t meet the president.
You test negative in the evening and well, too bad, the president already left town....

Almost every week there is an outright recall ot advisory bukketin for these rushed covid tests. Thats to mention the high preanylyrical error rate.
After decades of lab testing i laugh. If you want an accurate tests, make sure its done within an accredited lab. The things i have seen while consulting in office testing scares me.
Same thing happens every year with flu testing. Its like some social bragging right to have a pos flu.
This actually happened to Ohio Gov DeWhine who was to meet the President. 4 tests. 1 positive and he wasn’t able to meet the President then later had 3 tests all negative.
Really makes me question the reliability ofpositive COVID tests.
I’ve thought that for a long time. That and some swabs are pre-infected.
Just think about the money for research for COVID Vaccine and running all these COVID tests and how much money that is generating.
So lab says you have COVID but you have no symptoms, not sick. Unless you request a separate lab test of that swab, you would never know for sure.

We have reached the point most authorities are pretending to forget the difference between infections, “cases”, and deaths. Deaths have dropped to bottom levels, but because of huge increases in testing, positive tests are up, causing new panic. The hunger to lock back down is great.
