All 50 States are REAL ID Compliant.
DHS ^ | DHS

Posted on 09/26/2020 10:25:19 AM PDT by re_tail20

Well, it's finally happened.

After years of effort and warnings and threats, with Oklahoma becoming compliant, the Federal Government has officially declared that all 50 States are now compliant with REAL ID.

So now, to obtain State Identification Cards and Driver's License Cards, all 50 States have the same minimum requirements and standards.

For all our Republican States - Democrat States divisions right now, at least we have this in common - and right now we could use everything possible in common.

Decades ago I lived in CA and had to deal with the legendary DMV.

But—I will never forget the two hours stuck in the DMV line next to the hottest women I had ever seen in my life....

Sometimes lemons turn into lemonade. :-)

Now it must be compliant to be able to vote.

We’ve been plotting our departure for a number of years. Jobs and an 89yr old mom are keeping us captive for now. Retirement is right around the corner. Been traveling and looking for a place but haven’t settled on one. Some Californians end up polluting the places they move to- CO, OR, ID, NV and the pandemic is only accelerating that. My husband and I grew up in the bay area when people were still sane. It was wonderful, even when our kids were growing up, it was a leave it to beaver neighborhood. All the moms and dads had similar expectations for all the kids. The last 10-15 years it’s gone downhill in so many ways. It’s just headspinning and sad.

The CA DMV is a good example of bureaucratic leftist hell.

Last time I had to go to a CA DMV in the LA area, I thought I had walked into a Mexican bull fight arena. It was unreal. I think I was the only person who spoke English. After about 1.4 hours of standing there like a dummy, they called my #, number 1302. At the window the woman who could barely speak English snarled at me like I had just murdered her children. Then things went down hill from there. The entire experience was horrific. I recall walking back to my vehicle mumbling over and over, I gunna get the eff out of this state.

35 States - 70 percent - require some additional form of ID along with a signature in order to cast a vote.

https://ballotpedia.org/Voter_identification_laws_by_state

It’s not surprising that some of the 15 States that don’t are the most Democrat and Liberal - such as:

California
New York
Illinois
Massachusetts
New Jersey
Oregon

Here we have a driver license that isn't a real ID card, doesn't require much in the way of proof of identity, is only good for a year, but does show you know the rules and know how to operate a motor vehicle.

Pretty much anyone who knows Stop means Arrêt, Alto, Tingzhĭ, or? can get one...

Umm, sorta.
Missouri allows residents the option of either realid or not.

The difference? The non complaints get the same card minus the star emblem. Still requires full verification of citizenship and residency but the documents are not fowmrwarded to the fedgov.

Can’t fly or enter a fed facility with it.

Real ID is the wet dream of centralists, internationalists, socialists and bureaucrats.

The obsession of control over others is an ugly one.

My wife has been trying since Feb. 2020. Then appointments were 3 months out. She showed up and was told that starting in March they had canceled all existing appointments because of Covid and she had to start again. She then made another appointment for August. When she went to go that morning, she found they had unilaterally changed her appointment to another DMV office on the other side of the city, which she couldn’t get to. So she had to make another appointment. She is now scheduled for early December.

You have to love FAKE NEWS. The headline implies one thing and the details another.

I live in WA State and have just gotten the Enhanced Drivers License that is “Real ID.” I also use a US Passport when in doubt for “Real ID.” The “normal State Driver's License and ID cards are not “Real ID.”

From the federal DHS website:

“......Requirements of the Act and implementing regulation, DHS will issue a Final Determination of Compliance to the state.
Q. Can jurisdictions meeting the standards of REAL ID continue to issue non-compliant REAL ID driver’s licenses and identification cards?

A. Yes. REAL ID allows jurisdictions to issue identification cards and driver’s licenses that are not in compliance with the requirements of the Act. Those licenses and identification cards, however, must clearly state on their face and in the machine readable zone that the card is not acceptable for official purposes.
Q. If my state issues an Enhanced Driver’s Licenses, is that sufficient for my state to be REAL ID compliant?

A. State Enhanced Driver’s Licenses (EDL) designated as acceptable border-crossing documents by DHS under the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI) are acceptable for official Federal purposes (i.e., boarding a commercial aircraft, accessing a Federal facility, or entering a nuclear power plant). However the existence of an EDL is not sufficient to consider the state to be in overall compliance for purpose of determining whether a Federal agency may accept a state’s regular driver’s license for official purposes. For example, a Federal agency could accept an EDL issued from a state but not be able to accept a standard driver’s license from that same state..........”

I just made an appointment to renew my Oregon drivers license. The appt is on November 24. No appts are available at the two DMV offices closest to me. I need to travel 35 miles to the third closest office.

Meanwhile, my current license expires on Oct 25.

Here is a TIP for everyone needing a realID. Bring the county birth certificate that you have to send away for and not your actual one as the actual one does not count.... Also all your bills you get like credit card, utility bills etc. Bring all you have. I was lucky I got my in Feb, 2020 and only had to start in January, 2020 and only needed to make 2 trips to the DMV and send away for the county birth certificate in another state and then need to have it notarized at a UPS store and that person asked for just my driver license which is not acceptable in the DMV office... and wait about a month total before I could get the ID. Oh if you make an appointment let me tell you about the guy who was ahead of me in line OUTDOORS who had an appointment (I did not) that he made in Sept of 2019 for a January 2020 date. I got thru the various 6 stations. 1 surly security guard, 1 person at a small kiosk at the door to place you in the proper line then 4 windows then he did. They did not accept some document he had so he called his office he owned and had someone get the documents he needed while he had to wait again. 6 people you go thru at the DMV. Any private business would be 1 person and in and out in tops 15 minutes.
