I actually feel for the cops who are being ordered to stand down.
NO doubt the vast majority of them are chafing at it and would love nothing more than to do what is necessary to put a stop to this.
In Portland, a lot of the cops are Democrats and *support this kind of thing.* I wouldn’t be sure the police want to stop it.
Just as it used to be a sure thing that cops would be on the side of people defending themselves against rioters, that’s no longer anywhere near a reliable assumption. In fact, it’s looking like most urban cops will cheerfully come arrest defenders now.
The local news (Portland voted for it news), keeps showing an out of context video of a Portland police officer punching one of the rioters. When the video first came out the “news” said the officer was going to be identified and disciplined.
If someone is in their vehicle, and protesters won’t let them proceed, why aren’t the protesters charged with false imprisonment? And if they pull a driver out of a car, why aren’t they being charged with kidnapping?

Actually the large, good fireworks do come with a mortar tube. I’m pretty sure these guys are using those fireworks mortar rounds as grenades. There have even been some seen with nails embedded on the outsides as improvised shrapnel.
