The problem is that only about 20% of registered voters vote in local elections. The sad thing is that people are only now realizing how important that is.
BTW, metro council just approved a measure that would nullify any attempts to repeal the 34% property tax increase through referendum. Basically they are telling the people that they don’t give a tinker’s damn what they want.

Yes I realize voter turnout is low. People need to understand that not voting is effectively the same thing as voting to accept the status quo, or worse. I think the Founding Fathers would be saddened by the amount of self-destructive apathy there is in this country. They gave us a framework for good government and we ignored it.
The nullification of any attempts to repeal the 34% tax should absolutely shock voters. This is tyrannical stuff. But I doubt we’ll hear much more than some grumbling about it.
