You have all the freedoms you need, the liberal gal Tweeted back to me. I was shocked. Is that really how the Left thinks?
She and I had been engaging in a back-and-forth debate on Election Day. Oh, I'd probably pissed her off by commenting on her fuck trump tweet. At least it started a dialogue. I brought up the freedoms we all enjoy as a pro-Trump argument.
This was her response. I have all the freedoms I need. NEED! That was the key word.
It was a fascinating insight into Liberal philosophy .as well as a scathing indictment of the American educational system. (Okay, yeah. I ripped that line off from Sheldon Cooper in The Big Bang Theory.)
Her tweet brought me back to my twenties. My family is dysfunctional as far back as, well, let's just say that the good ol' days is a frickin' myth! So dysfunctional that they made my adult desire for freedom too painful to pursue. Like a cult, I was brainwashed, love-bombed and ordered to live with 'em against my will until just a few years ago. Their main excuse, I mean, reason: safety.
Oh, I had some freedoms...the ones I needed. It was a kind of living death. Patrick Henry was right: Give me [complete] liberty or give me death. Begrudgingly doling out a few freedoms to the victims of total tyranny has a name: Stockholm Syndrome.
The captive receives a few kindnesses, a few pleasures to keep 'em quiet and bonded to their captor.
Why do they stay!? For the same reason 85% victims of domestic abuse return to their abuser.

PS. Can’t do it on this thread now. Next thread, that is.
Carry on, Lenora, even though some of the resident curmudgeons think they are the Posting Police.
In before humbuggummer starts picnic pissing.
Inalienable-right.
Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
End of story.

FREEDOM!
SCREW the LOCKDOWNS!
It’s called the Bill of Rights, not the Bill of Privileges.
Love that! Spot on. :)
:D You tell ‘em! :D
Oh, I love that. Must remember that. May I shamelessly steal that quote. It’s cherce!
Oh boy. I never thought of that! :D
Of course there are and should be limits to freedom!
Should you be “free” to take someone else’s possessions or life? Should you be free to drive at breakneck speed in a neighborhood? Run red lights?
Freedom taken to its limit (like any other so called “virtue”), becomes a vice or worse. If people were to be allowed unlimited freedom, we’d be at each other’s throat constantly. (It’s like what’s happening now with all the riots and the cops not allowed to “restrict their freedom”)
Unless you’re living by yourself in the world, there will be limits to freedom. (and even then nature will curb your freedoms). In order for people to approximately peacefully coexist in a society there have to be rules that most people agree to abide with, and a police force to make sure those that don’t are punished. And all those rules (and laws) are restrictions to people’s freedoms to act.
The reason we in this country have this quaint (and wrong) notion that we are the “land of the free” is because of the bill of rights. There the founders in their wisdom put in a list of things that they thought it would be better if those things were outside the “democratic process” - majority rule.
Things like freedom to speak as you wish, think as you wish, believe as you wish, and a few others, but definitely not act as you wish. In other words it was stuff that didn’t PHYSICALLY impact other people.
So we are definitely not the “land of the unlimited free”... and that is good.
LOL. There are a few trolls. I’ll just ignore them. :)
To get “Freedom” you must have Liberty.
So, inalienable right...
What stopped you from posting the whole thing?
Trying to score some hits?
Need a few bucks for hookers and crack?
I could not read the rest because it is password-protected...?
Also, on FR it is considered bad form to post only a part of what the poster write elsewhere. Then it seems like you are using FR to get more hits on your own site ;)
I generally try to go to a site so they will get the hit, even if the whole article is on FR.
