NYT Credits Fed for Trump Econ, Predicted Disaster Under Trump in 2016

The New York Times tried to shift goalposts to claim that the Federal Reserve was responsible for President Donald Trump’s roaring pre-pandemic economy.

That’s wildly different from the “economic disaster” The Times speculated could happen under a Trump presidency in 2016.

In economic modeling we called things like the Chinese Corona-virus and its pandemic impact as an exogenous shock. Meaning, for those at the NYT Editorial panel, a shock from outside the system. By definition that is not a fault of President Trump. He needs to be evaluated based on the response that he has directed, and that is a fair evaluation of his leadership. But the impact is about like a meteorite striking the earth. Should that happen during a [God forbid] Biden Administration, I assume we can expect the NYT to blame him for the orbital trajectory of the meteorite. /s

Fed is good for wall street multiple expansion, no doubt about that. As for the real economy with jobs, wages, homes, cars, medicine, education, etc...well that’s more than the Fed.
