On August 27, 2019, President Donald Trump held a 41.3 percent approval rating and a 54.2 percent disapproval rating, according to FiveThirtyEights poll tracker. During the 365 days that followed, Trump became the third president impeached by the House of Representatives; America assassinated Iranian general Qassem Soleimani; more than 200,000 Americans died from the disease caused by the novel coronavirus; the unemployment rate rose from 3.7 percent to 10.2 percent; the US banned incoming travel from Europe, China, and Brazil; an estimated 12 million people lost health insurance coverage; Trump pardoned Roger Stone, who was facing jail time for dirty tricks on the presidents behalf; and George Floyds murder sparked a nationwide movement protesting for racial justice to which officials responded by tear-gassing demonstrators in Lafayette Park in Washington, DC, so Trump could pose for a photograph holding a Bible.
That is, of course, a bitterly incomplete list of a grimly consequential year in American history. But youd never know it simply by following Trumps poll numbers. On August 27, 2020 one year later, and the day Trump used the White House as a backdrop for his convention speech FiveThirtyEight had Trump at 42.2 percent approval and 54.3 percent disapproval. Everything had happened, and politically, nothing had mattered. Or, at the least, not much had changed.
Its really remarkable, says Jennifer Victor, a political scientist at George Mason University. The stability of Trumps numbers are almost unbelievable.

They are sure trying. I have been a lifelong tennis player and watcher. I just turned the US Open off and for good because it has been unwatchable. Chris Evert and some other clown had Wanda Sykes on a webcam (dont know why except she is black). They of course were praising the activism for BLM in the tennis community as Serena and Sloan Stevens were playing. They ended the interview with the one guy saying, remind the people to get out and vote which Wanda did, it was disgusting.
Nope...nothing they say or burn or loot will change my mind.
My support for the President has three foundations in 2020:
(1) He has been delivering on issues of importance to me. I was more #NeverHillary in 2016 and wondered if he would govern in a conservative fashion. His record now speaks for itself (even if you have to bypass the Enemedia to see it).
(2) The Democratic Party is now in thrall to its worst elements--which threaten to totally destroy the nation that I love.
(3) The President's inveterate political foes and the Lamestream Media have completely forfeited any credibility. After all of the anti-Trump hoaxes, I now assume that any new "scandal" is another con job.
He changed my mind, he’s done a pretty good job and I’ll be voting for him. :)
Oh, she wanted the other direction, eh?
>>America assassinated Iranian general Qassem Soleimani
America took out a war criminal terrorist and Communists in America rallied in the streets spouting Iranian state propaganda.
Wonder how much Iran paid Aunt Fascist to chant “DEATH TO AMERICA” in the streets of Oakland last week.
>> to which officials responded by tear-gassing demonstrators in Lafayette Park in Washington, DC, so Trump could pose for a photograph holding a Bible.
Fake Fake Fake
The “protesters” were anti-Christian anarchist who’d set fire to a church (isn’t that a HATE CRIME?).
It wasn’t tear gas.
And the order to evacuate as sundown was approaching had been given.
Waaaaaaaaaa
They are most irked that President Trump supports Bible believing Christians.
>> the unemployment rate rose from 3.7 percent to 10.2 percent
The rebound of this Trump economy is amazing. The current economic problems are artificially created by a never before demanded lockdown scenario that goes against anything the CDC or WHO ever recommended in previous pandemics. But Bill Gates’ foundation recommended it last year at the Event 201 panel simulation of South American Pig Virus.
Take your foot off the brake and people will do wonderfully.

Yep. I wonder, the next time BLM starts harassing outdoor diners, one of the diners should speak up and loudly ask these numbskulls who they’re planning to vote for.
“Thanks for ruining my dinner. You’re a Biden supporter, aren’t you?”
This^^^^^. I am on record for not liking the President's demeanor, yet it is crystal clear he must be reelected to save the United States as a republic.
Leftists need to realize the methods they endorse for their disjointed revolution can now be reciprocal.
Trump poses the single greatest threat to the professional ,lifelong, political ,elite.
Trump removes the argument that decades of political experience generates better leadership in government.
Its the Political class and their MSM that oppose Trump or any “outsider”.
Had Ross Perot win he would have faced everting Trump is facing.
Trump will win by a solid margin in November. This is fake news.
Had Ross Perot won he would have faced everything Trump is facing.
If theyre planning on stealing the election anyhow, I wonder why they worry about what the public thinks.
Good point. My guess is they don't have a lot of confidence in their ability to rig votes. They tried to rig the 2016 and what happened? Trump won. Leftists are too stupid to rig anything more complicated than a loaded die.
Should read “...tried to rig the 2016 election”
The logical mistake that the author makes is the result of their deranged obsession with the personality of Trump. Honest informed people understand that the federalist form of government places the responsibility for public health in the hands of city and state authorities. Trump inherited a national pandemic response plan that was obsolete and relied on the laboratory testing of the CDC which was not scalable.
His rapid response task force quickly eliminated the shortages that this lack of planning created and his advocacy for widespread use of HCQ and Zinc would have significantly reduced the incidence of hospitalization and death if it had been followed as it was in many other countries with lower rates.
He was forced into the unnecessary strategy of shutting down the most successful economy in the world. If he was half the self obsessed dictator that Vox claims he is he would have rejected this bad advice to protect his reelection chances but he’s a highly moral person who did the right thing even at great personal cost.
The real reason informed people still support Trump is because they aren’t as easily fooled by propaganda from his enemies as Vox would like.
Vox is a bunch of self-absorbed, self-righteous idiots who have pretty much managed to wreck their company and displayed enormous amounts of hypocrisy when it comes to workers.
Exactly. It's the uninformed, misinformed and semi-informed that I'm worried about.
Some at CDCgov have reasonable count of probable real number of deaths in U.S., as of August 31,2020, 9,210 versus inflated 153,504 ie people died from cancer, heart attack, vehicular accidents, suicide, gunshots, etc.
