Have been stocking up little by little and freezing the garden vegetables I grew. But it’s an annual event anyways here in Upstate. My parents taught me and my whole family does it.

Looks to be a good apple crop this year, too.

Might as well make applesauce and freeze or can that.

Butternut and acorn squash store well and are very good for you.

Upstate NY has a great variety of agriculture and most of it is the kind that stores well for winter.

I have friends who told me that every time they shop they buy a little bit extra and put it aside.

Did you ever read *One Second After*?

While the idea that an EMP could knock out the entire power grid is up for debate, the societal breakdown he presents in the book is more feasible that I would like to see it.

Much death due to needless starvation because people never bothered to have enough extra food on hand.

The book is very good and somewhat terrifying.
