The defense doesn’t have to prove anything. It is up to the prosecution to prove the officer’s guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. There is always the possibility that he died from a drug overdose, not by anything the officers did, so I do not think that standard could be met.
The way it used to be. The way it is supposed to be. But remember that the justice system is very corrupt now.
Dr. Baden's autopsy results concluded it was mechanical asphyxiation that caused the cardiac arrest. Mechanical asphyxiation is caused when the blood flow through the carotid arteries is restricted. The carotid arteries are on both sides of the neck. Each supplies different regions of the brain stem and brain. The system that was compressed supplied the brain stem that controls breathing. That is not a place where you want reduced blood flow. With the lethal dose of fentanyl in his system, the suppression of breathing compounded the situation. Add that to the effects of COVID-19 infection which reduces the efficiency of the lungs. With the effects of Meth, you cause the heart rate to race. That is not what you want when oxygen levels are dropping.
I forgot to add the Floyd's existing heart condition caused by his years as an addict.
So, when I said, "The constriction of blood flow through the neck to the brain was officer Chauvin’s contribution. The illegal drugs added their part. COVID-19 was another contribution. I say it was a team effort with fentanyl as the major player," I pretty much summed it up.
The 4 should be set free and given money for their troubles. Floyd was a dead man anyhow with all the drugs in him and fought the police as seen in the videos.
Sounds as if they should form a lynch mob and skip all the legal accoutrements.
I’m sure the irony would be lost on most of the participants.
