In a sense, quinine is a catalyst, something that aids in a reaction but does not partake in the reaction itself. In general you don't need to much of a catalyst to work.
For example, your cataylytic converter contains platinum. It aids the conversion of hydrocarbon fumes to water vapor and CO2 But the amount of platinum in a is extremely small, not much is needed.
The question with quinine is really how much is enough? Since I don't have access to any pills except zinc, I will do what I can with the tools I've got.
Mind you, this in for prevention, not cure. If I were sick I would seek out higher doses of quinine.
This is what happens when the DemonKKKrats politicize a commons sense remedy.
Good points made well.
I understand your idea and agree.
And even a 10% advantage, if that’s all it amounts to (just trowing out a number), is quite significant for a person, but even more for a population, in which such benefits cascade.
Even though zinc is absorbed into cells, it is not present in the amounts necessary to render inoperative the RNA dependent RNA polymeras. HCQ creates a pathway for zinc to enter the cell in sufficient quantities.

RE: How about Vietnam with a population of 97 million,1007 cases and 25 deaths, i post this info constantly and all i get is a blank look.
OK, what did Vietnam do right that we did not? BTW, here’s one question -— at 1007 cases, how many tests has Vietnam really made ?
Charlie Don’t Covid!
Lotta carbs, or fake sweeteners, in most tonic waters.
Unless, of course, you make your own tonic with a Soda Stream (or club soda) and quinine. I do this, sometimes, since I don’t care for sweet drinks, anyhow.
