Before the kneeling, there was this. Will they desecrate her grave?

Her talent was astounding! What a shame it was squandered. May she rest in peace.

I just listened to it again, I thing Francis Scott Key would like it and the Founding Fathers could smile.

She did a great job, as did Ann Wilson for the division final that sent the Seattle Seahawks to the Superbowl.

One of the first CDs I ever bought. Her rendition still brings a tear to my eyes.

I love to hear our National Anthem being sung the traditional way without added inflection and changes...
The ONLY exception to this is the National Anthem that was sung by Dave Bray, a Navy veteran and former singer for Madison Rising...

imho...the absolute best rendition of the National Anthem by any modern day singers. Absolutely knocks it out of the park.

The problem with this spectacular performance is that it created a new song called "The Whitney Houston National Anthem," which is now preferred by most singers to the traditional National Anthem.
Whitney was so good that she could get away with breaking the rules -- once. Her less-talented imitators should stick to the traditional song.

Great vocal performance....recorded several days in advance and lip-synched for broadcast....FWIW.

For a long time, Whitney made the most of her God given talents. Her Auntie, Dionne Warwick did the same back in her day.

Amazing!
How could you possibly kneel?

Was wonderful.
Another version I absolutely love is Sandi Patty. A 2nd verse created for it about still being proud and free today. Our local talk show man played it all the time after 9/11 every day.
