True.
I say President Trump should put a bounty on them.
“Until the laws catch up to the technology, $5000 bounties will be enacted on criminals assaulting innocents using lasers.”

THAT’LL put an end to it.

As several posters have said, you have to match the safety glasses to the wavelength of the laser. Some goggles will block several wavelengths and good ones are predictably more expensive. What absolutely won't work are welding goggles, sunglasses, or anything not specifically designed for lasers.

Most of these thugs are going to be using the green astronomical lasers they get off of Ebay from China. They're not going to be using the invisible ones because they can't see them themselves and they won't get the desired panic from their victim. These things will cause permanent damage to sight and they're easily available. I'm an airline pilot and have been lased several times by thugs on the ground that like to shine them at passing aircraft for grins. The last time was a couple of years ago on final going into Paris. Fortunately for me I haven't had a direct hit while I was looking into it and thus no damage, but we've had a significant number of commercial pilots with permanent vision damage due to these criminals. Unfortunately it's very hard to catch them because it's almost impossible to pinpoint their location when the incident happens.

The best defense is to immediately close your eyes and look away, if you're not looking at it then you won't get hurt. If I were in an area where I had to worry so much about criminal thugs pointing lasers at me then I'd stop going there or move before I'd start wearing goggles all the time. That's like wearing a bulletproof vest every day, if you're in a place where that's necessary then you need to move someplace else.

Shining a laser in someone's eyes is assault with intent to do bodily harm and should absolutely be grounds for using deadly force to defend yourself.

Have a mirror and return “Fire” with the user being on the “Return Fire” and Zap them with their own Device.

I worked for a Chiropractor years ago and We were Testing a new way to Trigger Accupressure Points with Red and Green Lazer and We had to keep Detailed Recording of Dataset every Use to the FDA /CDC. The Lazer Kit had dark “Sunglasses” in the Kits.

You have to ask yourself, would you rather be tried by twelve or carried by six!

Ping me this afternoon if I haven’t posted something. I’ve got an engineer buddy on the West Coast who I think could provide useful insight here. I don’t want to be texting him in the wee hours out there.

You need to be able to see to aim.

You could easily aim a shotgun or high-capacity 9mm pistol with your remaining good eye if you were too slow to react.

They should be targeted with the active denial system. Response to every Laser or firebomb attack. Easily used to disorient and disperse the crowd for easier arrests and detaining of criminals. Shut down command by jamming cell signal when crowds form an attack group. Hit them every time they attempt to storm a federal building. Federal charges of terrorism and fly them to Cuba for a fair military tribunal. Also, by detaining the whole group, any injured party can bring a civil suit against each participant since they will be detained and identified. Although we like to think that these are just unemployed do nothing antifa thugs, the reality is some of these folks have jobs and assets. Perhaps it’s time to hit them with civil lawsuits for injuries to individual officers and federal agents. Why go fishing with a hook when you can use a net...

make a corner reflector of mirrors for defense
and blind the attackers.

let them feel their own heat
and lose their own sight, forever.

It would be an interesting court case. Deadly force against a weapon meant to permanently blind you and damage your eyes.

Open and shut case if I were on the jury.

I thought shining these Green lasers at airplane pilots was illegal? Which would most likely make it illegal in many other situations. Like everything else, we need only enforce the laws.

Sounds like George is sparing no expense in buying his little minions toys to play with. Bastard. Seems it would be only fair to lay down a barrage of rubber buckshot until the laser nonsense ceases. Maybe after the election.

Power supply is not an issue. Heating of the laser diode could be a limitation in a modified device.

The corner reflector will send the beam back to the laser itself, not the eyes of it’s wielder.
