"Supposedly. That is the “story”. Ever see a fireworks factory or storage go up like that? I haven’t"

Yes, fireworks explosions can be massive:

That China fireworks explosion series was much more drawnout over time than the one that just happened I think. Beruit’s was of much shorter duration I think.

I’ve seen that one before and that was one I was looking at for comparison purposes...I thought the nature of the explosion was different.

Not to say that one wasn’t big and destructive, but the sudden and concussive nature of the China fireworks explosion seemed quite different to me than the one in Beirut today.

Plus, there is an old saying about context, when in North America and you hear hooves, you think horses, not zebras.

I am going to make a wild guess and predict China is the largest fireworks manufacturer in the world, so if a fireworks plant in China goes up, I would expect it to be big.

But in that part of the Med, in Beirut? I could be wrong, but I would be surprised to hear there is a giant supply of fireworks there.

Bombs and munitions of all kinds wouldn’t surprise me a bit, but fireworks? It just doesn’t fit to me. Clearly, I could be wrong, I am no expert. But that was quite a comparatively long distance away in my opinion than the one in China that it was being videoed from, and from that distance to knock someone down seemed impressive to me.
