It would be an extreme madhouse. People in each state would say if the States can separate from the U.S., then they can separate from the State.

If Bite-me or another Dim “wins” this November, it is time to get serious about succession.

If the conservative states and the leftist states could agree to part in peace a separation would be be doable and would, in my opinion, be great for the conservative states.

However, a peaceful separation would not be inevitable.

The colonies had to fight to secede from Britain. Fortunately, the colonists won. It helped that they were fighting a power separated from them by an ocean.

The southern states seceded. They were not as fortunate as the colonies. The northern states did not wish them a fond farewell and let them go their way. Instead of saying “good riddance” and seeking to have good terms with a separate southern nation along the lines of their relationship with Canada, the northern states waged war on the South and prevailed.

Leftists want to dominate, command, control, and dictate. That is what they are about. So I have serious doubts that leftist states would be agreeable to an amicable parting. Allowing part of the country to pursue a freer, smaller government, personal responsibility form of government would be anathema to them.

Who knows where this will all end up.

If the red states secede, it will start with Texas.

That book by Buckley poses questions such as who has to continue paying off the enormous national debt? Who pays for a supplied military defense and nuclear force? What about Social Security and Medicare?

Another thing: After all the mayors' and governors' whining about the meanie Trump with his harsh martial law and military force to protect buildings, watch when Dems control the Prez,House and Senate in January, 2021.

Then it will be suddenly become proper and necessary and right to smash the Red State revolts.

I do think the “welfare state” binds the nation together.

Will retired people in California want to give up their social security check if California leaves the union?

Will the food stamp recipients in New York City want to lose their benefits?

Will the poor people in Seattle want to lose medicaid?

I think the answer is NO. No state will vote to leave the union.

Even if all the red States started seceding (which I really don’t see happening), how does that work when the large majority of the landed State doesn’t want to go? Can all the blue areas then secede from the State that left, and rejoin the Union?

Let the Dems have their city-States of New York, San Fran, Seattle, Chicago, Dallas, Austin, and so on. That’ll just leave these US as a full-blue powerhouse for decades to come! (And see how long they last without Federal, or even State, dollars coming in.)

We need to divorce. But we want Orange County and San Diego so we have a port on the Pacific.

That's reasonable. We need a port on the Pacific.

The key here is to make them think they're getting MORE than they deserve. Basically liberals are thieves. They want more than they've earned, more than they're worth, and more than a sane person wants to give them. That would be rough if they weren't so short sighted and greedy. But they are... so we know how to appeal to them...

Yeah, but Schweikart has some interesting insights on things we need to see ‘down the road’ so we can prevent them....
