The Cost of Bail Reform Was My Daughter's Life
The Houston Courant ^ | July 29, 2020 | M. Infinger

Less than a year ago, life was good. I was the proud mother of two beautiful daughters and grandma to the sweetest eight-month old girl you'd ever seen. We were planning a gender-reveal for the arrival of Caitlynne's second baby when everything went wrong.

My daughter's husband, Alex Guajardo, had been on a downward spiral. In May 2019, he was arrested for a second DWI and a hit-and-run. He received what is called a personal recognizance or free PR bond and was released from jail. In July, he was arrested again on a charge of assault-family violence for assaulting Caitlynne, who was then 17-weeks pregnant. My daughter made a brave move and filed criminal charges against Alex for beating her up.

Immediately following Alex's arrest, I begged Caitlynne to stay with me so I could protect her and the babies. She refused. Caitlynne had convinced herself that the system would protect her. She reasoned that because her husband was going before a judge to face a felony and three misdemeanors, he wasn't getting out of jail. Nobody was going to bail him out and there was no way the court was going to release him for free again. She believed she was safe.

My daughter couldn't have been more wrong. Although Alex's actions showed a clear pattern of escalating anger and criminal activity, he was released on yet another free PR bond at no cost. He hadn't even gone to court on his prior cases, but was issued yet another PR bond.

Grandma...just how were you going be able to protect her?

“Within hours of his release, Alex brutally stabbed Caitlynne to death, along with her unborn child.

The Democrats could care less about this woman, her daughter, and her unborn grandchild. They are busy with their revolution and criminal are much more important than these little no bodies. Certainly drug addicts are much more valuable than these collateral damage riff raffs.

I hope that those Republican suburban women and other similar morons who are going to vote for the Democrats are the next real victims of this insanity.

For a lot of women being involved with BAD boys seems to be in their genes.

No matter how bad they treat them they go back time and time again.

Then when they get rid of one more times then not they hook up with another just like the one they got rid of.

From the article it seems the husbands bad behavior stemmed from alcoholism. I’m old enough to have seen it happen and I’ve seen it turned around a couple times, but it is not fair to assume she was attracted to a “bad boy”. Some of the longest marriages I know have weathered some very rocky times. I probably would have left but I do admire the tenacity.

While I agree, it isn’t always that easy with a young child and being pregnant, to boot. Young children tend to adore their fathers. It is a real can of worms and one of the reasons for restraining orders and incarceration in these cases.

The blame is squarely on the politicians and policies that go beyond misguided into the realm of evil.

I have seen instances where the negative results of these ideological actions directly affect progs and those who support them. It is often not enough to change their minds. I know second-hand of someone raped and beaten by an immigrant who refused to report him because he would be deported.
