Garret Foster an Antifa rioter was shot dead at a protest in Austin, Texas, he was armed with an AK-47 rifle, and told a local reporter that opponents of Black Lives Matter are “p**sies.” His death set off a partisan blame game online.
The victim, was taken to hospital with “critical, life-threatening injuries” late on Saturday evening, where he died shortly afterward. A police spokeswoman said he was attending a ‘Black Lives Matter’ protest in the city, and may have approached a passing car while brandishing a rifle.
The driver, who shot the victim from inside his vehicle, was taken into custody by police. On Sunday night Austin police released the driver who shot Garrett Foster.

AUSTIN — Police have released the driver who allegedly killed an armed protester Saturday night in downtown Austin, while they investigate what led to the fatal shooting.
Austin Police Chief Brian Manley identified the man who was shot as Garrett Foster.
Foster was attending the protest against police violence and had been pushing the wheelchair of his fiancée, Whitney Mitchell, 28, who is a quadruple amputee. The couple, who met in North Texas as teenagers, moved to Austin a couple of years ago and had attended protests in recent weeks, their mothers told The Dallas Morning News.
Austin police are investigating what occurred between Foster, who they said was carrying an AK-47-style rifle during the protest, and the driver, who called police to report that he’d shot someone…
… Witnesses reported that just before 10 p.m. Saturday, a car turned down the street toward the protesters and the driver started honking its horn. The vehicle stopped in the roadway, police said, and Foster approached the driver’s side window as others began striking the car. The driver then opened fire, striking Foster.
Manley said at a news conference Sunday that the driver reported Foster pointed his weapon at them before the shooting. KVUE-TV reported that police have said Foster did not discharge his weapon, but the chief did say someone else in the crowd did return fire as the car left the scene.
The Austin Police Department has not yet stated in detail how they believe the incident played out, but did note that two people opened fire. They added that the suspect is cooperating with their investigation.
The information that the Foster first pointed his gun was reported by Ray Pearson from Red State Nation.

Garrett Foster, the Black Lives Matter protester who was fatally shot by a motorist in Austin on Saturday night was caught on camera saying that the “people who hate us” are “too big of p-ssies to actually do anything about it” when asked why he was carrying a rifle.
“They don’t let us march in the streets anymore, so I got to practice some of our rights,” he responded.
The interview then asked if he felt like he would need to use it.
“Nah,” he responded. “I mean, if I use it against the cops I’m dead. I think all the people that hate us and want to say shit to us are too big of p-ssies to stop and actually do anything about it.”

That’s the root of things right there. If I am armed and the other person is armed and they point their barrel at me they will be shot, I will operate on the assumption they plan to use it or they wouldn’t be pointing it at me. Want to warn someone or get their attention? Point it up and fire into the air. Want to get shot? Point it at someone and don’t use it.

My question I this:
Was it a real AK-47 (ie an illegal weapon) or was it an AK-47 STYLE weapon? A long gun with a banana style clip that is actually a semi automatic(totally legal)?
IF it was an illegal weapon(a gun that can switch between semi automatic and automatic machine gun fire) where did this protestor get this weapon? Better call the ATF, don’t you think?
You can't ever tell about Austin, but in the rest of Texas, you don't have to even point the gun. I think the term is "threatening manner." If people are trying to stop my car and they are armed, that's enough of a "threatening manner" for me, and I would think most other sensible people would think the same. If you are caught in possession of a gun while trespassing in Texas, I don't care where you are pointing it, the offense automatically becomes a felony.
I suspect the dead guy just thought he was exercising his Second Amendment rights. And so did the guy in the car.

I’ve wondered about these “surrounded by protesters” moments where they start beating on the car / breaking glass / etc.
Pretty sure you’d be justified (again, Texas) in killing any number of them, until the mob pulled away from your vehicle. Castle doctrine is incredibly powerful.

It is not the rioters we have to worry about it is the Police. The Police are protecting them.The rioters we could make shotr work of. Then would come the Police.
No human can stop a 100hp car moving forward at 5mph.
Just keep driving, slowly. Windows up, doors locked, do not interact.
By moving forward slowly, you are giving street blockers a chance to simply walk out of the way.
If they want to be slowly rolled over, that’s on them.
Ditto if they jump on your hood. Keep moving forward, no matter what.
If they break a window (possibly to throw in an incendiary) or they point a gun at you, accelerate to the best speed you can make. At that point, deadly force is justifiable.
If they jump on your hood, and you have moved past the other street blockers, accelerate, then brake-check and they will fly off. Then drive around them on the ground and depart the area.
The antifa terrorists will have recorded your license plate, so when it’s safe, call 911 and report the incident, and what you did to save your life. Just like with a justifiable shooting.

I wasn't trying to make a snide comment. They have been describing her as a quadriplegic and all I said was I saw a picture of her on FR with her arm above her head. You're real sensitive aren't you?

It would be a waste of time to call the ATF on the rioter. in fact, the ATF would probably trump up a charge on you for calling it it. We no longer enjoy the protection of the Law.
