A California city stripped away a Black Lives Matter street mural rather than allow a pro-Trump mural to be painted on its streets.
According to a report in the Sacramento Bee, Redwood City not only approved the mural near its Courthouse Square over the Independence Day weekend but even supplied the yellow poster paint.
But the mural was erased last week by the city’s power-washing crews after a local attorney asked to put her own sign on the street since it was an open forum.
Maria Rutenberg told local officials she wanted to paint MAGA 2020 on the street.
City officials then scrubbed away the BLM sign in the middle of the night.
Afterward, according to BLM mural organizer Daniel Pease, city officials told him his mural had to go for violating traffic and vehicle codes.
Mr. Pease told the San Mateo Times that he was “upset and frustrated” that anyone would think that “Black Lives Matter” is a controversial political opinion with other points-of-view possible.

The city washed the sign away after being contacted by local real estate attorney Maria Rutenburg, who said that if the street was now a public forum, she wanted a sign of her own reading “MAGA 2020.”
“I saw “Black Lives Matter” sign appearing on Broadway Street on the asphalt and I figured that’s gonna be a new public space, open for discussion, and I wanted to get my message out, too.” Rutenburg said.
City Erases ‘Black Lives Matter’ Street Mural
One could easily argue that Black Lives Matter is a political movement.
We need to do this in all cities where there is BLM mural.
It is the name of a militant marxist group
My next step would be to the courthouse to file an equal protection lawsuit. My message should be up just as long as the BLM message was up, and the City should pay for my supplies just as they paid for the BLM supplies.

Good. Too much paint - regardless of what it says or supports - is a hazard to traffic. The reduced traction is most dangerous for motorcyclists, but even 4 wheel vehicles can slip on it.

It’s not a mural. A mural is on a wall. Defacing the street is not a mural. Creating the BLM sign is as much a crime as defacing traffic control signs. The fact that the administration had it done does not make it not a crime.
