This is really STUNNING information!
The Texas Department of Health released numbers recently comparing the coronavirus to the last two seasonal flu viruses.
The coronavirus was actually less lethal than the flu in the state!
The flu had a mortality rate of 0.03% and 0.04%.
The coronavirus has a mortality rate of 0.01% in Texas.
This won’t make any headlines.

Not at all at the rate the coronavirus does. Brain damage in as many as 30% of recovered COVID-19 patients...British Heart Association reporting 55% suffered permanent heart injury...this is a very bad virus. It’s nothing like the flu.

Someone get this to Abbott!

I am not 100% certain you can say that.
I do not believe they have kept the same kinds of stats on long term damage from seasonal flus because they may not have attributed such things to the flu virus or they may have blamed the damage on something else the person had or acquires that can cause the same type of damage. further the flus each year aren’t the same so its not just a 1:1 disease type comparison, which might also be the reason they have not ever kept stats of this nature.
I have been looking for the numbers bu so far haven’t found anything. Which at rhis point prompts me to think they haven’t kept stats like this for the seasonal flus.

The flu kills people, so it can be quite severe is some people.
To: dinodino
The flu can cause physical damage as well. This virus is a bad flu that doesn’t rate the nonsense response we have had to it.

Yes, unfortunately, some people prefer to live in fear, instead of accepting facts.
To: fortheDeclaration
The typical flu does *not* cause the type of injuries reported from this coronavirus. You contract this virus at your own peril.

Okay, let’s just look at the heart damage. The British Heart Association studied recovered patients in 69 countries and found permanent heart injury in 55% of them. Are you suggesting that the typical flu causes injury anywhere approaching that? Come on.

It seems the people who have contracted are doing fine! No one wants to contract the virus, but shutting down our lives isn’t the way to combat it.

Dang
My math over the months mirrors this
End the insanity
It’s just a flu bro

probably not that high, no
but again, to be fair, i dont think the medical community has ever bothered to do detailed tracking and quantifying long term damage to various parts of the body like they have with covid
my gut says they would say too many other things could also be the causes so they wouldn’t say with certainty they could blame it solely on the flu, i don’t think they’ve ever tired to keep figures for it

No, all the people who have contracted the virus are not doing fine. More than 100k dead in the USA alone would disagree with you, if they could.

Those flu deaths were very likely over a period of 6 months (flu season)

You could be right, but the medical community are very closely studying this one, and it’s really bad. It doesn’t matter what the typical flu does, because at the end of the day, this coronavirus is horrible.

Sorry, but most of these “studies” are chock full of “may,” “possibly,” and “could” when discussing possible side effects. A couple of months ago these “experts” also told us young people who contracted COVID-19 “may” experience aneurysms from COVID-19. Interestingly, you don’t hear about young people dropping dead from aneurysms as a result of covid! In fact, most young people, if not all, completely recover from covid, and probably never knew they had it!
Your experts have been wrong about most everything! The onus is on you and your experts, not us! These scare tactics are getting freaking old!

COVID deaths started pretty much after winter was almost over. We will see how it behaves in a full winter cold season. It hasn’t slowed down in summer. Will it accelerate in winter?
The data from the Southern Hemisphere is a bit encouraging in this regard.
To: dinodino
Of course I was referring to the overwhelming majority of those who did survive. Now, if you are that scared, just go and hide under your bed.
To: dinodino
well i think most of the bad cases are again the elderly, which have other problems going on, and the immuno-deficient/compromised.
Wven most of the young folks that have had bad reactions, we learn they usually have one or more pre-existing conditions.
stuff that already was lowering their blood o2, organ issues, diabetes, for ex, obesity,
often i jave had to dig deeper into the article to learn the ‘young healthy’ person had a condition, if they even decided to report that.

This has been discussed for a couple of months now. Theres no doubt that some people get very sick. But, the fatality rate from Covid is comparable or less than the flu. People think that by comparing it to the flu, its down playing it. The flu kills many people each year. However, we dont shut down everything over it either. Respect it, take precautions , and lets open up. The consequences of staying shut down is worse effecting economy, physical and mental health, education, etc.

Fine. Go ahead and go out there and party it up, lick doorknobs, whatever it is you want to do. If you happen to contract COVID-19, please be sure to report your experience to the rest of the class.
