Thursday on MSNBC’s “The Last Word,” House Intelligence Committee chairman Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) said if Congress was delayed in receiving the financial records of President Donald Trump because of court battles, “the country continues to be at jeopardy during that delay.”
In a clip reacting to today’s Supreme Court decisions, Attorney General William Barr said, “Well, obviously, we were disappointed in the decision to the extent it did not accept our argument, the government’s argument, about the extent of the president’s immunity. But as a practical matter, the decision made very clear that the president just is not at the mercy of litigants and investigators and that there are protections and defenses that can be raised.”
O’Donnell said, “Your reaction to that, Mr. Chairman?”
Schiff said, “Well, I’m not surprised that Barr finds it a bitter pill to swallow that the president is not above the law. He takes the legal view that essentially the president can’t violate the law because he is the law, and Bill Barr is essentially the hand of the president to implement his will. It’s why the Justice Department under Barr doesn’t represent justice. It doesn’t represent the public interest. It is essentially like a second defense attorney and defense counsel for the president.

I haven’t heard anything about Epstein trafficking little boys so that’s probably fake news.
I would love to see that. Whoever runs against creatures like Schiff should demand that they release their taxes due to possible outside influences and insider trading. Nail them with their own claims. I am tired of the GOP being on defense all the time. I want them on offense. I want them to be ruthlessly on offense until the left follows the same laws equally.
Defend that statement schiff-for-brains. How, exactly is the Country "at jeopardy" because you're ongoing politically motivated fishing expedition is delayed?
Shiff-for-brains wants the records for what purpose, exactly? If this were a warrant, name what exactly it is you are looking for and why, what premise you have, for believing that information to be in these records?
He can't, or won't because the answer is he just wants any and all information - he is fishing for anything he can use or spin to try to damage the President. The stench of desperation permeates his entire being.
SCOTUS just told Mr Shif to drop that idea.

One big problem with the Constitution is it assumes Congress will behave responsibly (and makes them nearly unstoppable), and the President will be a tyrant. They were too focused on fighting the last war when they wrote it.

If we don’t see any arrest for the coup attempt by labor day then I will have to conclude that for once Schiffty is correct. Even then, time has run out because a trial has to be scheduled. and the defense can stall until December with the hope that Biden wins.
