The hostess said that the new ordinance is that you must wear a mask as you walk to you table...

This happened to me this afternoon at a bar and grill. My reaction was..."what?". I pointed out that nobody was wearing masks. The waitress said we had to wear one to walk to the table, then we could take it off. My reaction this time was "wtf". We've been carrying those stupid cheap ones around with us anyway because it is getting so weird.

Many who advocate wearing masks know they’re not all that effective but they have an attitude of “Why not? Doesn’t every little bit help?” or “If it saves one life...”.

That attitude obscures the issue of whether there are more effective uses of resources. If cloth masks do not protect the wearer but only protect those around, then let’s provide those kinds of masks that do protect the wearer to those who are particularly vulnerable to the virus and the rest of us can wear or not wear masks.
