Regarding the Mexico angle, there might be something to it, but why the huge spike in Florida, which isn't a border state, and why is there no statewide spike in New Mexico, which IS a border state?
On the other hand, here in Washington State, there's been a spike in Yakima County, which is an agricultural area with a large Hispanic population and a lot of migrant workers.
