WE WERE RIGHT – CDC Now Estimates 22 Million Americans Infected with the China Coronavirus Making US Mortality Rate 0.6% – Confirming Our Estimates from March

We first reported on March 17, 2020, on the controversial Ethiopian politician and Director General of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, and his irresponsible and criminal fear mongering. Tedros claimed in a press conference in early March that the fatality rate for the coronavirus was 3.4% — many multiples that of the fatality rate of the common flu which is estimated to be around 0.1%.

This egregiously false premise led to the greatest global panic in world history.

The Director General of the WHO spoke on March 3, 2020 and shared this related to the coronavirus:

While many people globally have built up immunity to seasonal flu strains, COVID-19 is a new virus to which no one has immunity. That means more people are susceptible to infection, and some will suffer severe disease.

Globally, about 3.4% of reported COVID-19 cases have died. By comparison, seasonal flu generally kills far fewer than 1% of those infected.

We knew that the WHO leader’s coronavirus death rate number of 3.4% was false. It was not accurate! Here is a summary of what we reported:

The Gateway Pundit reported, that the coronavirus fatality rate reported by the liberal mainstream media was completely inaccurate and the actual rate more like a typical seasonal flu – the media was lying again. The false reporting of the coronavirus fatality rate at 3.4% in the media started with the statements made by the WHO in early March.

Here’s a summary of our analysis [on March 17, 2020] proving the Director General’s statement was very misleading and materially false:

The “estimate” for the coronavirus fatality rate (back on March 17) according to the WHO was 3.4%.

The estimate used most often is from the WHO based on the Director General’s comments. The WHO estimates the mortality rate of the coronavirus to be around 3.4%.

The “estimated” rate for this year’s seasonal flu is 0.1%.

As The Gateway Pundit reported earlier, according to CDC numbers, in the US in the 2019-2020 flu season, there were 222,552 confirmed cases of the flu from testing and an estimated 36 million flu cases in the United States. There were 22,000 estimated deaths from the flu (via the CDC).

Note that the number of deaths and confirmed cases (through testing) of the flu in the US are based on actual data. The number of individuals who contracted the flu is an estimate. There is no way to know who had the flu in the US because many cases are not severe and people do not have a test done to confirm they had the flu. They believe their symptoms are minor and go on with their normal lives thinking they had a cold or something similar. Because of this, the CDC estimates and they estimated 36 million people had the flu in this past flu season.

The rate of the number of individuals who died from the flu to the number of individuals who were estimated to have had the flu is 0.1% (22,552 / 36 million). This is an estimate and the amount used above by the Director General of the WHO.

However, comparing the rate of individuals who died from the flu to the number of individuals who were confirmed to have had the flu is around 10% (22,000/ 222,552). This is based on actual data similar to the rate for the coronavirus above.

Estimates between the flu and the coronavirus by the WHO did not compare ‘apples to apples’.

The fatality rate that is commonly referred to in the media for the coronavirus back in March was 3.4% from the WHO. This number was based on confirmed cases of people with the coronavirus.

The flu fatality rate provided by the CDC of 0.1% includes estimated number of individuals who had the flu (36,000,000). This rate includes an estimate of all the people who contracted the flu, most who were not tested for the flu.

The fatality rate for the coronavirus does not include those who had the coronavirus but were not sick enough to seek medical attention. This is why the flu fatality rate is 0.1% and the coronavirus fatality rate is 3.4%!

The two rates are like comparing apples to oranges. By doing so, the coronavirus fatality rate was overstated when compared to the flu.

The WHO and liberal media created a worldwide crisis and panic by falsely comparing the two numbers!

We were attacked for our reporting and ridiculed by the far-left for “downplaying the danger of the spread of [the] coronavirus in the US.”

Now time proves us right.

Yesterday the CDC reported that at least 20 million Americans caught the China coronavirus:

To date, 2.3 million Americans have had confirmed coronavirus infections, but by the CDC’s estimates, the real number could be at least 20 million.

Based on today’s numbers and the new estimates from the CDC, our position on March 17, 2020, is now proven right:

The death rate per estimated cases today for the China coronavirus based on the CDC’s current estimate of Americans who have had the disease is o.6%.

We suspect it is much lower than this number. The CDC is significantly off in their latest numbers and millions more have had the coronavirus in the US.

The WHO created this global panic and caused the global economic meltdown. We knew it and we pointed it out and we were attacked. We were right!

1. “You are not smart enough to understand...”

I will make sure to alert the two top tier universities where I earned my Doctor of Medicine and my Masters in economics of your opinion, however with graduating with honors from all programs and being recognized in the top of all my classes, I am somehow doubtful that they will rescinding my degrees based on your little temper tantrum. 2. “Not wearing masks, not social distancing etc are the root of rapid growth”

Again, a blindingly stupid statement from someone who apparently is incapable of reading medical literature. In area where social distancing was strict and in areas where social distancing was lax, there are identical spreads of disease. Of course, what you are in your mentally small mind incapable of realizing is that of the tests currently, even where there is an increase in the (+) percentage, hospital admission and deaths are either steady or decreasing. Currently there are minimal death, and according to two studies (Italian, and from NE United States) even those infected are presenting with less severe symptoms and the utilization of ventilators continue to decline. Birx et al present data just today that the mnumber of deaths related to pneumonia are identical at this time year over year to the last 60 days. That is an exact quote and no distortion. However Fauci has made some whopping errors, but you are the one interpreting (I suppose it is because you are so much smarter than the rest of us when all you spew are talking points)

3. “ruin lungs, hearts, kidneys”

There is no evidence of long terms sequelae (that means results as I am unconvinced that you are anything than a mouth breathing, drooling idiot) that are any different than other victims that suffer from Multiorgan System Failure that is related to any infection or other causes (I would say etiology, however you as an uneducated jackass would not understand such erudite language). So go ahead promote fear all you want, but you are incorrect. Oh, my evidence is the over 150 people I have successfully treated with critical illness related to CoVID (You see we call it SARS -CoVID - 2) because SARS describes the critical illness component. Just so you know...

4. Terrible Pandemic...
The evidence clearly demonstrate that the death rate is roughly equal to that of seasonal flu, and it is acting as every other pandemic in the history of medicine. H1N1 was actually more scary because the primary mortally were middle age people with mild comorbidities. But you wont understand that. Additionally, the CDC testimony to congress states that we are missing number of cases by a factor of at least 10x (meaning that there are probably well over 20M cases). You see the testing is not showing disease that is new, it is merely giving us a better picture of that which is not there. So as we test asymptomatic people, and get positives — so what? This is the first so called pandemic where we are literally obnoxiously testing everyone repeatedly — you tend to find what you look for, however as it now skews to younger people, this is exactly how out species is designed to put up with viral diseases — the young get it who are able to handle it with ease, and grows group immunity for the vulnerable. We tell the vulnerable to take care to not come in to contact. Universal social distancing is a stupid as your concept of medicine and epidemiology.

.6% is 6 times higher than .1%. You just proved that Covid is extremely dangerous. Also, the .1% death rate for seasonal flu is for SYMPTOMATIC CASES. The death rate taking into account those infected with seasonal flu but without symptoms is about .025%. Covid is therefore 24 times deadlier. But I have told you this many times before. Also, the death rate is going down because of Remdesivir, Hydrochloriquine, Dexamethasone, and other improvement is clinical treatment.
The quoted death rate of .1% for seasonal flu is the number of deaths over the number of SYMPTOMATIC flu cases. Those without symptoms are not part of the denominator in that calculation (see CDC link below). It is estimated (see nhs.uk link below) that 75% of regular flu cases show no symptoms. This brings the infection fatality rate for regular flu from .1% to .025% if you count infected people instead of just symptomatic people. Covid19 is therefore 24 times deadlier than the flu, you can distort the numbers however you want, you can believe whatever you want, but no one can make a plausible argument that Covid19 isn’t at least 10 times deadlier than the seasonal flu, no matter how hard they try.

I don’t know why you keep using the pronoun YOU as if I was the one insisting that Covid-19 were like the seasonal flu. If you even bothered to check the posts that I made on this thread, you would know that I agree with you that it is several times deadlier than the flu. And oh, how you would drone on and on and on without even bothering to answer my previous responses to you.

The question we should all be asking is this — given what Covid-19 is, is it worth shutting down the entire economy and risking the lives of the many others who have lost their livelihood, are not treated because of other non-Covid diseases, in despair, etc.?

*THAT* is the question we have to answer. Given that we had similar deadly viruses that afflicted the population in the past ( see for instance the Hong Kong Flu of 1968 to 1970 ), I think the risk of shutting down the entire economy is MUCH GREATER than taking ordinary precautions (e.g., protecting the most vulnerable to the virus) and living life normally.
