Buzz was a reason, cause she was a woman, I doubt he was interested in “woke” or even had heard of the term at that point. Also she WAS pretty ok on the campaign trail, sounded intelligent in interviews.
Another reason was the belief she could help in her home state of Cali (the primary of course) if Cruz could survive until then, Cali was winner take all and on the last day of contest(s).
In hindsight the worthless traitorous bitch makes Richard Schweiker seem like a great choice. Though Schwek actually hurt Reagan with the nomination dangling just out of his reach while Fiorrino merely brought a wiff of desperation (and the resulting joke fodder) to a campaign that was already close to finished. Unfortunately she actually had the honor of receiving an electoral vote for VP, from a traitor in Texas that voted for Kasich.
Back when Biden was doing real badly he started sniffing around Stacy Abrams for an endorsement and maybe even suggested they run together and she told him eff off (LOL how the tables turned on her). It would have done him more harm than good.
