These people are largely illiterate; even those who have the ability to read in a rudimentary manner probably can’t read and assimilate enough to gain from a book of history - unless it’s made up of ‘bumper sticker’ slogans. They are largely *ignorant* about history, and can basically only read and vaguely understand pictures. The state in which our educational system has existed for decades has left them that way.

It seems to me that anyone willfully destroying public (or private) property in this way should be arrested, prosecuted, and punished, under the laws for which the parents, grand-parents, great-grandparents, etc. of many of these numbskulls probably voted.
