With much fanfare and hype, the New York Times rushed to report over the weekend that former President George W. Bush, Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT) and former Sec. of State Colin Powell were not planning on supporting President Trumps reelection bid.
While their report on Bush turned to be fake news, their reporting on Romney and Powell was true.
Romney has said he doesnt know if hell write his wife Anns name on the ballot or what hell do. Powell announced over the weekend that he was endorsing Joe Biden for president.
Neither are surprising in the least, especially considering that Romney was the lone Republican who voted to remove Trump from office in February during the Senates impeachment trial.
In fact, the only thing really surprising about the New York Times article on Republicans who have said they wont support Trump is in how they seem to be believe other Republicans outside of diehard Never Trump grifters like Jennifer Rubin should care in the slightest about who Romney and Powell are and are not supporting.
Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR), who almost single-handedly took down the New York Times last week by getting them to expose themselves for the partisan hacks they are, took to the Twitter machine on Sunday to point out that Powells endorsement of Biden will hold no sway over Republicans going into the fall election and why:
Tom Cotton ✔ @TomCottonAR
US Senate candidate, AR I respect Colin Powells service and hes entitled to his opinion, like every other American. But he hasnt voted Republican for sixteen years. Apparently John McCain and Mitt Romney were too extreme for Secretary Powell. https://twitter.com/cnnsotu/status/1269623364827701250
Finding even moderate Republicans like Romney and McCain not to his liking tells us much about Powells political philosophy, which is to say hes far further to the left than the media would like people to think he is.
To amplify the point, Noah Pollak also noted that Powell has not supported a Republican for president since the Bush administration, for which he worked:
Noah Pollak @NoahPollak Colin Powell public presidential endorsements: 2008: Obama 2012: Obama 2016: Clinton 2020: Biden But please, journos, carry on with your breaking news coverage of this former Republican official who is courageously breaking ranks with his Party.

He is all about LGBTQ.
Bush, Twit Romley and Colon Powell are visual aids explaining why so many people voted for Trump in 2016.
I am beginning to see who the MAGA baton might be passed to for 2024.
I just saw this
George W. Bush Spox Says NYT Article Claiming He Wont Be Voting For Trump Is Completely Made Up
Cotton doesn’t have the same style as Pres. Trump (nor does anyone else for that matter). The key similarity is, he doesn’t let the media dictate to him.
Proving that affirmative action is not a solution to anything.
We all know that Romney will write in Pierre Delecto, and then kiss the ballot, when he votes.
Tom Cotton was the first GOP politician who said “china virus” and that it came from China. Not even Trump beat him to the punch..
90% of Republican strongly support Trump.
You know, those same Republicans supported Romnuts. And he’s managed to stab all of them in the back.
Cotton would be a good President down the road. Not sure if he could get himself elected though. He doesnt have the personality. Saw him on Bartiroma the other day. Someone must have told him to smile. I dont think Ive ever seen him smile before. He clearly is uncomfortable smiling.
But hes a smart guy and a conservative. Hes a good debater. He could at least fill the number two spot on the ticket. And frankly in 2024 Im not sure who replaces Trump. Cotton might be as good as anyone.
If Colin Powell is something more than a NeverTrump sniper and he truly believes his politics can forge a reasonable social consensus, then perhaps he should run for mayor in his hometown of New York City. Otherwise he can sit around, pontificate and continue to tell everybody who will listen what a glorious general and Secretary of State he was.
I though Colin Powell was the four star general in “Mars Attacks” and he was vaporized.
Colon Polyp is so 1990’s.
Bush League Republicans hate Trump because he is trying to undo their life’s work, turning the USA into North Mexico.
That includes the ones pretending to support Trump like Flimsey Grahamnesty.
As soon as he is re-elected he will be pushing amnesty.
Cotton is high on my list for 2024 if not the top.
Tom Cotton is mighty good. How about another Tom, Tom Fitton of Judicial Watch?
My only fear is if Tom Fitton runs, I hope he’s got a backup for the fourth branch of federal government he runs so capably with only a few handfuls of staffers.
I remember my father, a lieutenant colonel, who read his reserve officer’s magazine regularly, remarked that other officers thought Powell did not deserve to be appointed Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The general opinion, according to my dad, was that Powell had been advanced over other officers simply because of his skin color. I’ve always thought Powell was a pompous ass.
Cotton is a great prospect for president post-Trump. Pence, on the other hand, is the epitome of a slimy, unctuous politician.
Apparently he did not support Bush when he worked for him either. He was aware his chief aid was the one guilty of exposing the identity of Valerie Plame and allowed the administration to be torn apart by a special counsel and for Scooter Libby to be destroyed. He demonstrated neither support nor honor.
