Just moments ago, here in DC. Florida National Guard Soldiers from the 53rd Infantry Brigade Combat Team swear in as temporary U.S. Marshals in support of citizens at the Nation’s Capital.
US intel may have the dope on something nasty being planned & ready to execute.

From what I was reading, Florida’s governor made them United States Marshals.

It looks like Barr is loyal and that Florida is in the hands of the loyalists. Georgia and Texas are loyal states as well. All three states have problems with leftist run cities.
I agree. Would it be too much for them to then investigate and then arrest Mattis and Esper, should evidence of actual perfidy come to light, or would that need people from some other branch of the government?
Truly sad about Mattis. The US Marines have my undying admiration, and as far as I know, Mattis had a long career in the Corps above reproach.
And then, at some recent time, he fell down.
You do not want to fool with federal marshals. They are amazing. They protect the judges and anyone involved with the courts, the jurors and witnesses. I’ve seen them involved with protecting international people. Not sure why they do that. You do not want to fool with them. They are tough and they are serious.
Personally, I have no idea. That’s just what I’ve read.
How does it work?
I don’t believe any governor can make anyone a federal level authority or employee, but they surely could say they went along with from a president!
FYI, US Marshals has only ONE “L”.
And YES, all US Marshals whether full-time or “Specials” have FULL ARREST powers.

The POTUS or his “designated representative”, in this case the US Marshal for DC, can swear in anybody for any legitimate reason to be a Special Deputy US Marshal, for any length of time that the mission requires.
For example, the Special Agents of the USDA are “Special Deputies”.
Also, during WWII, many OSS Agents were “double sworn” as Deputy US Marshals, too.

BTW, the reason that NCIS is a “civilian agency” of the US Navy is so that their Special Agents would have FULL federal LEO deputation, W/O having to be “double sworn”, as ONI Agents once were..

ODD FACT: Federal Air Marshals, despite their title, are NOT agents of the US Marshals. Instead they are, for some strange reason or other, US TREASURY AGENTS.

Was taking my weapons with me to my hotel room during guard drill. A Marshall coming in snooping on me asks me why I have so many weapons, i am like, so the looters do not take them while I am not home, sir, duh.
So, now it explains it why Marshalls are everywhere lately.
This was a bizarre encounter to say the least.
Florida is now considered a swing state so that would be a good move.
