I was told last weekend that .357 Magnum was created as a result of the prohibition and gun running days. .45 ACP was not very effective against the auto mobiles of the day, which had bodies and doors of considerably more durable steel than today’s plastic and tinfoil cars. I have not verified that piece of trivia, but it makes sense and sounds good too. 👍
