D. A. Henderson was an American medical doctor, educator, and epidemiologist who directed a 10-year international effort (1967–1977) that eradicated smallpox throughout the world. Dr. Henderson was later the Dean of John Hopkins School of Public Health...Draconian “lockdowns” for pandemic flus were rejected as ineffective and destructive, in a seminal 2006 paper, on infectious disease & socioeconomic grounds, by serious, experienced epidemiologists, led by D.A. Henderson, who eradicated smallpox...

Just a point of fact: The intent of the current lockdowns were NOT to eradicate the disease. That was never the intent.

Thank you for referencing that article CheshireTheCat. Please note that the following critique is directed at the article and not at you.

The problem with comparing SARS-CoV-2 to smallpox is this in my non-medical opinion.

Smallpox evidently been around since before the time of Christ. So humanity could only hope for the best in dealing with smallpox for thousands of years before finally eradicating it for the most part by the scientific method.

So comparing today’s approaches to fighting newly discovered SARS-CoV-2, lockdown versus herd immunity for example, to history of fighting smallpox is, in some aspects, like comparing apples and oranges in my non-medical opinion.

Corrections, insights welcome.

Send “Orange Man Bad” federal and state government Democrats and RINOs home in November!

Supporting PDJT with a new patriot Congress and state government leaders that will promise to fully support his already excellent work for MAGA and stopping COVID-19 will effectively give fast-working Trump a third term in office imo.

MAGA, also KAGA! (Keep America Great Always!)

We need to work within our states to prevent this lockdown crap from ever happening again. Period.

All the more reason to impose them, if you’re a “progressive.”

You may have a point.

The larger problem is that there needed to be a debate among experts before things got out of control with the lockdowns.

Fauci is supposedly an expert. This guy Henderson was an expert. There must be experts today who studied under him, who follow his school of thought, and who hold prestigious positions somewhere.
