I guess Zuckerberg thought it was cheaper to throw money at these snowflakes than win the case.
I don't think most of us can even begin to imagine what sorts of sick, twisted things people try to get past the mod's at social media sites. I recall hearing about some absolute horror stories back when this first surfaced.
Typically 50% to the lawyers and coupon vouchers to the affected persons.
Buying pacifiers, coloring books and crayons would have been a lot cheaper.
I was on a grand jury that indicted a woman for microwaving her baby, you’ll see nothing worse than that, where’s my money?
No, and the article is misleading, to claim it is political stuff.
99.99% of the complaints were regarding perversion, generally snuff films and child pornography.
I’d be traumatized by that garbage, too.
I have read about this. Watching numerous videos of animals being tortured and other truly vile stuff. Just finished a book by an on-site reporter who covered the numerous transcaucasus wars after the CCCP collapsed. His last reporting was Beslan school atrack. After years of observing and reporting senseless violence and death in 3d world crapholes he called it quits.
Sounds like a great job. You get to act like God about the dispensing of opinion and knowledge, and then get a bonus for the stress.
Back in the unenlighted days of text based internet news groups did the moderators get Bourne shell shock instead of PTSD?
“Hopefully there won’t be such lawsuits on FR.”
Apparently not. I showed that pic you posted to my lawyer to see if I had a case and now HE is suing ME! :-)
Stress, trauma are occupational hazards of this job. Wouldn’t it take special training and maybe some professional or spiritual support to do this sort of work?
