Maybe we should listen to this doctor. He is an expert, isn't he? Just like Fauci and Birx are experts. Is he any less of an expert whose voice should be listened to?

He’s a psychiatrist. Our era’s version of the venerable Witch Doctor.

I’ve listened to SO many conflicting stories and the ONLY one that has ANY ring of truth to it is “We don’t really know much about this virus.”

“anxiety” can be controlled....so I don’t buy this. further a certain degree of anxiety can create motivation to resolve wat is being faced.
Guy lost his job but went out looking for work even in the shutdown.....taped his resume on company doors, or owners vehicles. He was hired!

Has the lockdown actually saved anyone?
Is it true that even one life has been saved by the draconian stay home orders?

There will be millions who will ultimately die sooner or later due to the effects and after effects of all of this. Many will succumb to a broad array of mental health issues and those who cannot get essential medical treatment outside the COVID barrier.

The shutdown is wreaking more havoc than the dang virus has, at least around here. Drug & alcohol abuse has taken off, initiating a lot of domestic disturbances, typically with violence involved. Some of those same people get out driving around like maniacs, even showing up at stores or store parking lots all belligerent, picking fights with random people. Then there's all the suicide threats, some of which turn into attempts. Most recent example is a guy who drank 4 bottles of cough syrup last night. That didn't work so today he texted relatives he was out looking for a suitable bridge to jump off of. Cops caught up to him and they had a game of follow the leader for a while (no lights, sirens, just followed) until he returned home and they snagged him there. Roughly 30 minutes ago a girl swallowed a bunch of pills and she's off to the ER now. Then there's all the ambulance calls that are hauling off chronically or terminally ill people who have had their medical care disrupted due to all the shutdown drama - the butcher's bill is starting to come due on that.

I recall that there were many studies of the catastrophic long-term health impact of the massive layoffs in the Detroit auto industry, and this will be the same only worse.
The speech I would like Trump to give (with charts) would include a balance sheet of negative health impacts that are being caused by the lockdown vs. presumed positive impacts. The balance sheet and bottom line could be clearly shown.

Im an expert, too.
What I hate about articles like this is that nobody knows if the lockdowns save lives or not - but they might. I put the probability of catastrophic worsening after lockdowns end at 25% - 30%. By no means the most likely outcome - but decidedly non-zero.
Predictions about the future of a new pathogen with less than six months of co-evolution with our species are idiotic. I understand the gravity of the economic situation and I understand the demand for predictions - I get paid to make them - but the truth is, no one knows what is going to happen and anyone who says otherwise is either a fool or a liar
