A word is merely a metaphor for a pattern of consciousness that has meaning.
That is the same consciousness that gives life to the flesh.
It is the Universal Lifestream.
It means two things at least I think. The expressed word of God as we have it in the Bible. Jesus is also called the Word of God.
When I tune my consciousness to higher levels in prayer and meditation, consciousness itself becomes physical to me and thus the contents and stored memories of other people’s souls.
The Word was God’s consciousness. In the Greek it also meant reason or right thinking. It is a promise that there is order in the universe.
Hard to understand. The Bible says in the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God (John 1:1).
This is saying that the Word is one of the three persons of the One God - the Father, the Word, and Holy Ghost (1 John 5:7). All are God - “these three are one” (1 John 5:7).
Then it says, “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us” (John 1:14).
So Jesus isn’t just the Author the Word - Jesus IS the Word.
On the road to Emmaus after Christ has risen, Jesus came near to two who didn’t recognize him. Jesus “expounded to them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself” (Luke 24:27). After they realized it was Jesus and he vanished from their sight, the two exclaimed their heart burned “while he opened to us the scriptures” (Luke 24:32).
Notice, Jesus wasn’t focusing them on his bodily presence nor did the two exclaim their hearts burned because of Jesus’ bodily appearance or miraculous disappearance. Jesus pointed to the scriptures for them to know who he is and that is why their hearts burned. The more we read and meditate on God’s Word, the more we get to know Jesus because he is the Word.
No other will or word comes close to it; not in excellence nor in beauty. Though it may be terrible in its effect or loving beyond comparison, it is always perfect toward His Purposes in Eternity.
It is amazing to think that this was on the earth in the form of Jesus Christ whose every word had the same import and effect. Yet He humbled Himself as a servant and did not use all the authority and power as He could have done.
The creator walked upon the face of the earth with His power veiled and used mostly in the forms of miracles and prophesy. Satan was right, the Lord Jesus Christ could have called down armies of His Angels and taken over the earth at any time. But for our sakes He humbled Himself as a servant and gave us His precious word which we have in the Bible to this day.
We should be constantly awed by His Word, but do not comprehend it otherwise we constantly would be and it would be too much for us. We live in the Grace of God every day whether we know it or not and His Word is the daily Bread we always need.

Greek philosophy term meaning “The Argument”. In the times, it also meant an intermediary between God and Man. The common view was that no god or God would come into direct contact with dirty humans.
For Greeks, the intermediary was purity of philosophy. For Hellenistic Jews, it was an angel.
The theme of John is Jesus as the intermediary, and fully God, and fully human.

“The Word” is Jesus.
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. . . . And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us” (John 1:1, 14).
The word is God’s Truth.
“Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. The ones along the path are those who have heard; . . . the ones on the rock are those who, when they hear the word, receive it with joy; but these have no root, they believe for a while and in time of temptation fall away. And as for what fell among the thorns, they are those who hear, but as they go on their way they are choked by the cares and riches and pleasures of life, and their fruit does not mature. And as for that in the good soil, they are those who, hearing the word, hold it fast in an honest and good heart, and bring forth fruit with patience” (Luke 8:11-15).
