It means two things at least I think. The expressed word of God as we have it in the Bible. Jesus is also called the Word of God.
In my large Concordance (Young) the ‘word’ in very small type takes up five pages. There are probably many doctoral dissertations on its usage.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God
Jesus was the Word, incarnate. And the Son. And the King of all men.
He was God’s first creation.
