On Friday the St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners announced that county beaches are now open from 6 a.m. to noon, seven days a week.
In a press release, commissioners note that the beaches should only be used for activities that include physical activity and motion include walking, running, exercise, surfing, biking, fishing, swimming, surfing, and others.
Walk to exercise not to socialize, said Dawn C. Allicock, Director and Health Officer of Florida Department of Health in St. Johns County. As long as individuals adhere to the CDC guidelines of social distancing, getting exercise and fresh air can be beneficial for our citizens physical and mental health.
Group sports, sunbathing and sitting, and other group activities are not permitted. In addition, items not allowed on the beach include blankets, chairs, coolers, umbrellas, tents, and any item that promotes a stationary presence.
The county says beach visitors must continue to adhere to CDC social distancing guidelines, including limiting gatherings to no more than ten persons and distancing themselves from other parties by a minimum of six feet.
All public parking lots are now open; however on-beach driving remains prohibited.

Real easy to keep your distance doing anyone of those things.
Imagine if that mess, Gillium, had one.
Damn.
One = won
You can fish but you have. to keep moving!
Pretty easy to keep 6+ feet apart (from strangers) on a beach that’s 100 yards wide X the length of Florida long.
And with the fresh sea breeze, it’s WAY safer than 6’ apart in a store or office.
Good!
I’m going to look to take another one of my dogs on a hike next week then. Should have some beautiful weather.
I thought you would be all panicked today with the report that the virus is spread through farts.
Here in Alabama the Governor’s commission just recommended immediate reopening of most businesses with phase in of all others by May 15.
It took a call from Gov. DeSantis...many people had complained about Mayor Lenny Curry closing the beaches. DeSantis also has to look at St. John’s County, a prissy liberal haven, where they have shut down beaches and everything on a totally irrational basis.
Go Alabama!
I am sick, not with COVID, but sick to death of these sanctimonious a******s who act like they're doing us a favor by telling us what we're "allowed" to do.
You can fish but can’t sit or stand still? WTH?
I want all elected officials - ALL of them - to take an IQ test and publish the result.
IQ TEST ALL ELECTED POSITIONS.
Good news. Now the exodus from New York is going to get even worse. However they are going to have to ve tested before they are allowed to leave the airport.
Yep, and the Rats have a vested interest in making sure that any states that do open up, get an uptick in cases, if you catch what I’m getting at.
You are exactly right.
Take names of anyone who ordered the violation of your 1st amendment rights and kick them out of office!
Gov. DeSantis needs to wake up...and lead...Task force will cya..
If Orlando does not get up in runnuing soon..Disney will go bankrupt..
No Parks
ESPN No Sports
No movies..
Additionally, active people hiking, swimming, surfing, etc, have very low risk of getting sick. They just need to use care if they interact with people who ARE at risk.
